how do you make a shower pan for a camper?

Postby universal_exports » Sun May 06, 2012 5:30 pm

well I am laying the ground work for putting a shower in my camper, but I am at a loss as to how to build a shower floor pan,
I had planed on using FRP for the walls, I plan on it being 30x36 with a toilet in it as well. anyone have any incite or ideas? thanks in advance.

thanks, I have ran across those but most seem to be only 24" wide, or they are to wide, I could live with 27 inches wide, I wonder if I could add a couple of 1.5 inch spacers on each side to widen a 24 inch to 27 inches?

They make PVC sheets you can cut and seal the same way you do pipe. Just be sure it is sealed before you install it. Make a small frame too!

thanks for the help guys, looks like I am going to go with this, since with the framing under my camper, and the low ground clearance, putting a holding tank of any real size under the camper is about impossible.

I have a low profile new Thetford bravera toilet, to mount to it. should work just fine, just have to find a shallow grey water tank, or maybe put the tank under the sink and rig up a water pump to pump the shower drainage up to it???

this one calculates to a a 9.77 gallon holding tank

the shower pan measures 23"W x 35"L x 7.25"D.
The holding tank measures 15"W x 21.5"L x 7"D (3" Bottom Drain)

I am putting it in this, and yes I already replaced the missing window ;)

If you'd like to try the tank under the sink option this is a bit pricey but it looks like not much more than a 12 volt bilge pump in a box.

WOW, thanks, that may be just what I need, I could drop about 2 inches of it through the floor so the inlet is lower than my shower drain, then use it to pump the water up into the top of a grey water tank. :applause:

I already have a 120 converter that will work, it is 3 amps.

well I went with this, I plan on making the room about 28x38 a bit larger than the pan for more elbow room.

this setup has a 5 gallon tank with it, should work for 15 or so flushes, plenty for a weekend. I added a thetford Bravura toilet to it.

most wet showers are designed to be used sitting down
so it looks like you will have a nice setup.
the shower drain from grainger has it all pump, holding tank and float switch.
you could make the holding tank any size you like and plumb it into the dump valve
which you will need for the toilet
I like the drain box from grainger I hope I can remember about it if I ever get a CT trailer.
