Cheap Tanks

Postby CarlLaFong » Wed Aug 01, 2012 10:16 pm

I was in the shop today, finishing my latest project when I had a rare moment of clarity and creative thought. I was putting my plastic concrete mixing tub away when I thought, "This could be made into a tank for a trailer." I looked at the bottom and it is #5 which is polypropylene. PP is available in sheets at a pretty reasonable cost and there are a myriad of pipe and plumbing fittings, also available in PP. With a handful of suitable fittings, a sheet of 1/8" PP and a plastic welding gun from Harbor Fright I'll bet you could make a very nice tank for water, potable, grey or black for about 35 bucks plus the cost of the welding gun

I had plans to use one for a shower pan in my shower tent. But I ended up....mixing concrete.....in it and would need to get a new one.
