General Discussion about almost anything Teardrop or camping related

Sept 4 & 5. One month into the"Build"
I received the second trailer from Northern Tool to replace the first incomplete one.
I requested they pay extra attention to the ends of the boxes with reinforcing tape. Long box came, could see they put a few wraps of reinforced tape on them, but it was still broken on both ends. The last foot or so gets beat up and parts slip out.
Received the second box the day after (Last Fri the Sept 5th).
There was no box left, UPS had reboxed the entire order with their boxes.
This box contains some heavy items as well, wheels, hubs, spring, heavy mounts etc..
The cheap Taiwanese cardbord DOES NOT hold up. Talked to the UPS driver and he sees a huge difference in the burst strength.

So bottom line
What am I missing this time?
Do I have enough of two trailers to put together one? NO

I am missing
Axle (both first and second shipments)
Axle castle nuts (probably on the axle itself)
The second trailer was missing paperwork for the VIN. I used the first trailers tongue frame piece (has an ID plate) and its paperwork.
Some miscellanous 4 mm screws.

Because of kind UPS employees the second box came with most all the pieces, overall in better condition although stuff was rattling loose inside.

Will call Northern cust serv. on Monday and try to get an axleas well as have UPS pickup the first trailer when I receive the axle... I boxed it yesterday.
I did start assembly and will go as far as I can.

Do you have a Northern Tool location anywhere close to you that you could have a trailer delivered to? That way you can pick a complete one up and if it is not complete you are not out anything.

Ordered Trailer Aug 6.
Its now Sept 11 (Just a reminder to take a moment to remember this sad day in our nations history)
Talked to Northern Rep last night ... They have been fabulous...but.
Received trailer #2, had almost everything there...except the axle and castle nuts.
Two trailers shipped, still no axle.
They are sending trailer #3. They apparently take broken down orders as they are returned and wholesale them so they have no parts in the warehouse. They have to ship another entire trailer!!!!! AHhhhhhhh!!!
Amazing...anyway its on the way as of today 9-11.

As far as a local location, I will have to check if there are any in Florida.
These trailers are shipped out of SC, and the rep told me if I was to buy 2, they would put them on Yellow Freight Truck.
Wonder if they would fare better on a truck vs UPS?

Its been awhile since I have posted.

To update, my build is progressing pretty well, though very slowly. (I have been busy...so, it gets put aside)
I am ready to purchase some aluminum and trim.

I am having a bear of a time finding 5052 in 5 foot widths here in Florida.
My best and only option to date is to purchase 040" x 5' x 10' aluminum sheet 3003H14 from Phoenix Metals in Tampa for about $95 each, but the sales person warned me that it would likely corrode here in Florida. In fact she said it would QUICKLY start to corrode...and it only comes unpainted in 5 foot width.

That is troublesome to me.

I would prefer aluminum 5052, which I heard is a bit better at resisting corrosion.

Shipping from a plant further away in Florida....or the southeast would be acceptable if the price is reasonable.

Thanks for the help in advance!

Talk about your stick-to-itness you win the gold. (I watched way to much olympics).

pete

ps Venice is one of my favorite spots in Florida Mom & Dad lived in Arcadia
I flew into Venice spent some time with the group that place big-ol engines into swift airplanes.
and with another young couple who ran a repair shop on the airport.
I liked it we would fly our plane in from Arcadia spend time at the beach and fly back.
looking back 8 hours from Ohio to Arcadia not a bad way to travel, those days are long gone now.
