Composite staples and brads

Postby volvoman62 » Thu Aug 30, 2012 9:54 am

Has any one tried these or heard of them. I was looking at canoe building and saw them and I thought they would be perfect for a roof. They are composite so you dont have to remove them before you sand so they will plug the holes and they are supposed to hold better than metal staples and nails.

We've been using similar nails (in copper) for years in boats, we call them ring nails, but have never seen them in this kind of material or in the form of staples. Very interesting. Thanks for sharing that!! I have it bookmarked for future reference.

I ran across them about a week or so ago in a Glen-L newsletter. It was hard to tell but I believe you need a special gun for the composites.

Yep, special guns required, and IIRC....they were about $200 for the gun, and the staples were big $$$ too.
(sorry, it's been about a year since I researched this stuff)

I can't imagine that it would be worth it for a "one off" build.
