The Gear Box

Postby LashleyT » Thu Aug 30, 2012 8:57 am

My wife and I have always loved camping in the Fall and Spring when the campgrounds are less crowded. I have wanted to build a teardrop for years, but my wife has claustrophobia and she says she just could not sleep inside a teardrop. So we are staying with tent camping. We also downsized from a minivan to a Toyota RAV4and with two dogs (Labs) the cargo space in the RAV is limited. In comes my need to build something and the Gear Box is born. It gives us an extra 23 cubic feet of cargo room for our camping gear. Taking it to WV this weekend to camp at a friend's farm and watch the WVU-Marshall ("The Coal Bowel") football game. There is a river on farm for the dogs to swim in and our friends have three dogs, should be a lot of fun.

The Gear Box Update

Postby LashleyT » Wed Sep 05, 2012 9:58 am

Once I got off of Michigan highways I didn't even know the little trailer was there. Because Michigan's roads are so uneven, the trailer bounced a lot. I had 20 psi in the tires. Think I'll try 18psi and see if that's any better. Had a great time, however our bird dog got one of the chickens!
