I was going to joke about how stress relieving it is for me to climb the local bell tower.......something something.. M21... and.............. but... I felt it safer to pass on that one...
I try to not get too stressed about stuff... but there are still times.
I, like others, like to use a variety of "things" depending on the situation. I used to like the forum as a form of escape. Mainly the thread killer thread, and what is now the campfire thread. Most everybody is gone now.. so that escape is gone.
I do utilize prayer, meditation and yoga, as well as more active pursuits. Just getting out into the woods is a big help for me. Whether to sit and listen, or doing some trail work, or recreating. Biking, trail running, snowshoeing, and xc skiing are all wonderful. Each of these can vary on their mood and styles. Sometimes I will do a real hammerhead ride..when burning off "anger' is in order....Sometimes a quiet reflection of a ride is just the ticket.. Some rides I use the time to think things through.. some rides [mountain bike rides] take so much focus, there is no time or ability to think, about anything. All one's faculties is used up just doing the riding. Those can be quite wonderful.. you just ride.. and don't get the chance for garbage thoughts to keep running through the mind.
I also have a punching bag.. a heavy bag on one of my rear decks. I use it as a good workout... but when needed.. hitting things can help relieve a little stress

Speaking of hitting things... another workout.... I have a large tractor tire [several actually] One is set up for sledge hammer workouts. I have stiffened it up with blocks of wood inserted inside the tire, and I also have inserted sand bags into it, to help hold it down. We have [so far] 3 different sizes of sledge hammers. 500-1000 swings at the tire is a great work out.. and stress reliever. We also have two other big tractor tires, for flipping across the lawn. This is another intense workout. We have our own inside workout space, but we also have a nice set up outside. At times we do a short intense workout.... tire flipping, sledge hammering. I have 5 or 6 adjustable wooden boxes for doing box jumps. Hitting this stuff.. pretty intensely for 20-30 minutes gives you a great workout.
As I said I don't have to relieve stress that often.. but perhaps in doing things things regularly.. it prevents stress from building up.
