Interior Ideas

Postby burlesot » Mon Jan 07, 2013 6:30 pm

All,
I am the proud owner of a 1947 Tourette. I am planning to customize the interior with insulation, electrical and wood panels. I wonder if anyone has any insights about how best to 'adhere' the new wood/insulation panels to the aluminum interior. I plan to remove the shelves and other interior parts. I love seeing the inside of folks teardrops because it helps give me great ideas, but I am not sure how to 'think' about sandwiching these layers into the aluminum frame. One thing I am grateful for is that the interior is much wider than the traditional 4 x 8; having said that I don't want to lose too much interior room due to insulation and wood panels.

I sincerely appreciate any insights, and photos if you would.

Sincerely,
Todd

I cedar stripped my interior.

Wasn't the fastest way but probably the strongest and maybe the lightest. I made a sandwich of 2 3/4" pieces of blue insulation and !/8" cedar strips.

I used Gorilla Glue as it plays well with foam board and the wood if the directions are followed. I used a really cheap table saw so my strips had to have some extra sanding but otherwise really wasn't too bad and the cedar was available locally.
