I had a deep foot well for a dinette feature in my first build and never used it.
What a hassle it was to remove the mattress cover etc and reposition the 4 mattress pads for sitting.
A canopy and a collapsible table in a bag will work just fine over the galley, and has, in this soggy state of Washington.
We fire up the propane fire and enjoy ourselves.
I eventually removed the sunken box and put in a shallower one.
Some shopping center driveways were lower than the street level it would scrape the leading edge.
I now use that area for under bed storage.

My wish list will be something similar to an outside cabana, and a dropped floor area used for storage.

When I saw the word dinette tear drop trailer I immediately think of our own Mike Schneider's "Lil Diner". A memorable build that he did in 2004 and 2005 I believe. He has about 230 pictures in the Hall of Fame here on our site. It is under "Finishing up the Lil Diner" I am also sure that Mike is more that willing to share his thoughts with you on the subject. I am surprised his build has not been mentioned up to now since your post. Good luck and enjoy the Lil Diner.

I have a pretty deep drop floor/foot well in mine and would not go camping without it. Forget the inside table. I have found that I often set out high winds inside along with rain and snow and cold. And I don't like setting up and taring down a shelter tent, which often causes problems in the wind. With a deep foot well you need to build the trailer higher than normal. Or like my next one have the sides higher than 4 feet. Will had some complexity but it is for this fat old geezer. Also in the bottom of the foot well I added a trap door so now I can stand inside.

You can just see my feet under the trailer. In front of my feet is a step stool I built that I use a lot and not just to get in and out of the trailer. As this was my first trailer and also the first teardrop I ever saw up close my foot well is a bit to small. Also remember that the distance from the front edge of a kitchen chair to floor is 17 inches. If you make your foot well so it goes to the rear a ways you can get by with a lower chair hight so your feet can go out. Meassure your car seat and foot area. If you have a big luxury car find some smaller ones to measure. Mid size and compact. See what you can stand for a few hours.

I haven't been out enough to even need a inside seating area. I do have a dropped floor that can be used for one very easily but I won't even do it if I don't see a need for it. Meanwhile it makes a great storage area!
