curb weight

Postby Rainier70 » Thu Jan 31, 2013 2:45 pm

I would like to compare some of the different trailers and builds as far as their initial weight. I can't seem to find anything about what some of your campers weigh to start with before they are loaded with extra gear. Is there a topic on this already? Thanks!

I am sure you will get some answers here.
Sorry, I have not weighed ours yet. But I will post weights in the spring.

Hi 70,
Our TD is an 4X10 foot on 15" tires. when I put it the scales last summer, it had much of the dishes and the like in the galley along with the mattress, the batteries and 25lb propane bottle. It was 1340 lbs with above mentioned items.

Thanks for the reply. In looking at many of the factory built TDs, the weights are right around that figure too. I was curious as to what some of the lightest options were. Or even just what the ballpark average is.

This information was collected about 4 years ago, BF (Before Foamies) but, I imagine it is still reasonably valid.
It was taken from two different threads where people told how much their TD or TTT weighed.
(If you look, you can probably still find those threads but that was back in November of 2009; so, it might be more of a pain than it is worth.)

My 4 x 9 weighed 1020 lbs. at a truck stop on my last trip. That was packed out for a 5+ week trip and my tear has television , radio, heat and air, 2 - 5 lb propane tanks , spare tire, etc.

Thanks! You all have been very helpful. I especially like the chart. I had searched, but wasn't able to find anything much. Interesting statistics. Most are all in the same average weight range of 900 to 1200 lbs.
