Kamp Master

Postby Mini Renegade » Wed Dec 31, 2008 3:21 pm

Whilst not quite finished on my BenRoy I have been toying with 3 different designs for build number 2. A 12 foot campster or a slumber coach or a Kamp master.
I am steering towards a Kamp master and have seen Andrews drawings on his design library but I need to see pictures. I have the teardrops and tiny trailers book but this only shows rear 3/4 views.
Does anybody have any photos of a Kampmaster that I could use for reference please.
Oh and happy new year to you all.

I had an original for awhile but it is gone now. Would be happy to answer any questions. I'll look to see if I have any pics.

cheers guys. I really like the Kamp master but after seeing the winter warror I may go that way instead. The Kamp master will look better when closed up I think but the winter warrior looks a hell of a lot easier to construct although a lot heavier.
When the winter warrior is battened down there looks to be more space for permanant cupboards etc due to the squarer rear. I`m just wondering if the benroy rear can be adapted to soften up the square rear. Will play with some paper etc. What is the door arangement for the warrior? is it canvas like the Kamp master or 1/2 and 1/2 solid and canvas?

Here is a picture of one that Gary did (RayVillan on the forum). It has a different paint scheme now. I believe he may have "curved" the back a little more than in Andrew's plans:

As I've said here before, I've collected over 100 Kampmaster and Wild Goose photos totalling 10Mb or so. If anyone wants to receive them, send me a private message including your email address - you wouldn't believe how many people ask for them but don't tell me their email address (you cannot send attachments to private messages on the forum).

Mike,

Could you perhaps post a side profile shot of that rounded WW profile? It looks kinda nice... (Although my four year old daughter says it looks like a shark! )

Thanks a bunch Andrew for the files. I really like that camper. Do have any dimensions for the Kamp Master?

It's in the 'Design Library' as New Kampmaster, though in truth that is actually just a redrawing of the Wild Goose plans in 'Vintage Plans'.

The Wild Goose body is 12ft long by 4ft high. Curiously the original Pop Mech plans don't specify the width of the trailer anywhere! I've assumed it is 6.5ft external giving 75" internal.

Hard Side Wild Goose

Postby AJ Alley » Sat Jan 24, 2009 2:05 pm

I am looking to build a hard sided version of the Wild Goose, I have the basic interior worked out (I will be carrying 2 - 12' sea kayaks inside). My concern is the total dry weight, I like the design concept of the winter warrior; http://www.mikenchell.com/winterwarriorpage.html - I live S.E. MI and would like to also use it when going north in colder weather. I plan on starting with a 4' x 8' welded trailer frame from Tractor Supply, I will extend the tongue to get the length I need. Any suggestions on a starting point to determine the finished dry weight?
