Little Guy - side mount screen room tent

Postby 2KIRKS » Mon Nov 29, 2010 9:39 pm

Any one purchased one of these yet? If so, can you please post a few pics?

I'm looking for the one sold by Little Guy...not a e-z up room, etc.

"I" saw one at the SCTT gathering last March. It is QUITE the cover. If I remember correctly, it is a bit pricey ! Dunno how it is to set up or tear down.

I have a 10x10 "easy up " style cover and LOVE it fer its "easy" up & down. I put three side panels on it in inclement weather and VOILLA !!

Bought the cover fer $65 on sale and found the side panels on sale as well.

To git back on subject, That cover/screen room is a BEAUTY ! Large and of course, it fits the Little Guy like a glove...but the $500 + price tag was/is prohibitive fer me.

I believe it had panels fer privacy that zipped in or velcroed...really looked like a NICE set up, but didn't spend time to investigate it .

Isnt the side tent for Lil Guy actually a screenroom from Paha Que? ;)

The color is an Orange fro 2010. We are dealers for Paha Que here in Scandinavia.

Ok that blue or turquoise color was last years color. It could be that the Lil Guy folks still have that specific color but this is the new color for this year or a few years to come.

I have the Paha Que screen room that the Little Guy model is based on. It is very big and roomy- 6'+ at the edges and much higher in the middle. Solid side panels roll down to make it an enclosed tent in wet or windy weather. We've used it off and on for about 6 years. Even though we don't have the optional rain fly the roof has never leaked in the rain. Construction, fabrics and zippers are all heavy weight, top quality.

My only complaint with the Paha Que designs (both the screen room and my Temescal Creek tent) is that you MUST have two people to set it up or you will break a pole. Once up they are very stable and strong- on one trip our tent withstood 3 days of winds gusting up over 40 mph.

Our Chalet trailer was used as a test mule for Paha Que to develop a side tent for A-frames- I believe after they designed the Little Guy side tent. The first prototypes were based on their standard screen room, but mating the tall A-frame with the screen room didn't work out and they ended up with a three-sided EZ-up type frame.

I am maybe looking for a 5x7 screen room (Paha Que) for my Little Guy trailer, if it were like new. But what I can't get anyone to tell me is, if the trailer sets up an inch or two higher (paved parking space) than the tent would be, is that going to make it a problem for fastening the screen room to the trailer and/or would it cause a problem with opening the door. I asked Paha Que, and all they can say is they wouldn't guaranty it to work. I don't want to pay big money for this screen room tent and not have it work, obviously. Has anyone used one in that manner? In the Northwest, most state campgrounds have the paved camping spots where you would have to keep the trailer on. Thanks if anyone knows.

Also, I read where one person can set up the 5x7, and others say it takes two people. So, I'm wondering which.

one thing is that Pahaque Design can make most anything you can think of.

We have both the 10x10 and the 5x7 rooms that attach to our Little Guy. The 10x10 is difficult to use. We attempted to use it in our yard as a trial, but chose to leave it at home when we camped due to the difficulties. The 5x7 is easier to use, but we have not attached it to the camper yet. We left it freestanding near the camper and it worked well. We may sell the 10x10 this summer. Sorry, no pictures of either side mount room or the camper yet.

There is good information on this subject here on the Forum.
We do not have Little Guy or a traditional teardrop that we would attach a privacy tent to.
But, last season I did build Sandi a Privacy Room (she did the sewing of the fabric portion) out an old eez- up frame I picked up at the local dump.
It does attach to Miss Piggy via our lower pull outs and ties down securely via out riggers, without touching the paint!
There is no top......but it fits perfectly under our 12'x12' Coleman canopy that, when set up, covers MP, 4'x6' side room, and the Galley area .

We have the 10x10 but not a little guy, we have a TCTear. The tent is great. It's correct that it NEEDS two people to put it up but once up it very sturdy and roomy. We have attached it to our camper but it's not a perfect fit and requires you to enter the camper gingerly. The Tunnel going to the camper is somewhat cumbersome since it was designed for the little guy. The tunnel and door are off by a little so you have to open the door carefully and sometimes hold the fabric while going or coming. It's really not as bad as it seems. We used it for two weeks straight last year and had no issues. It's a very well made tent and I don't regret buying it. No photos.

Yes, I've read that you need two people for the 10x10. But I also read one person can do the smaller one. I hope they aren't kidding.

I set up the 5x7 Tent by myself with little difficulty (65 yrs old, 6 ft tall and in reasonably good shape). I also manage the 10x10 with great difficulty by myself. While the 5x7 is fine for a changing room it really is quite small for much else. The 10x10 is great for being roomy especially on rainy days and accommodates my two tables as well as a couple of chairs. Both are very sturdy and have withstood high winds. The door tunnel should accommodate a slight drop on the pad but the top of the door will probably rub the top of the tunnel (which it does on even sites). Below is the 10x10 set up.

Sorry but I don't have any pictures with the 5x7 set up yet as I just bought it this past fall.

Hope this helps.
