As for what happened last week, I don’t remember too much of what happened at home, just what Tanya has told me. The first thing I remember is the paramedics getting me on the gurney. Boy what a ride. Lights and siren all the way to the hospital with a FD paramedic unit right behind us (wahoo). I’ve come to the conclusion that the best way to go into the ER at a hospital is via an ambulance. You get right in and get all kinds of attention, no waiting. Spent all day Monday in ER. Moved to a room early evening (bad timing, almost missed dinner-they did bring me a turkey sandwich, ice cream and a cup of decaf coffee. Without going into too much detail, the first couple of days were real rough. Didn’t get my breathing smoothed out until Tuesday night. I had more tubes stuck in me than you could shake a stick at. They let me out of bed (with help) for the first time Friday. Made two steps and sat in a chair for about an hour. The next time was Sunday. This time three steps and into the chair for about 4 hours. They pulled one of the chest tubes out Monday and clamped the other one. Pulled it out Tuesday and told me I was good to go. Just had to wait for my Kaiser Doctor to check me out and give the final release. So with that being said, I think I’m breathing better now than I have for the last six months. I just can’t do what I am used to doing without some help. And for me right now, that’s a bummer.
Again, THANK YOU everyone for your thoughts and prayers. They are very much appreciated.
