Looking for vintage awning? Marti's on Facebook!

Postby nevadatear » Sun Jan 15, 2012 5:45 pm

Marti's Awnings is now on Facebook (under marti's awnings of course). I have a Marti awning and love it. It is attached with twist locks instead of the rope and channel thing. If you want this kind of an awning, I highly recommend. She has MANY pics on her facebook page.

Eddie...I got some adjustable poles from Cabelas. They come in at least 2 sizes. Spike on the top for the grommets, capped foot, cam lever for adjustment...they break down into either 2 or 3 sections depending on the size you want. I've got them for 2 trailers.

I've also got 2 of Marti's awnings....I'm way happy with both, great craftsmanship and service. Doug

You mean I can have an awning for the Grasshopper??!! Alright!!!

I was just over there trying to figure out if a channel could be added...

Another thing on the wish list...I hope I get to see some tears at the Dam with awnings..besides Doug's perfect tear, of course!

How much do these things run?? I picked out the fabric..'Disney Multi' but want to check out some of your awnings at the Dam. I can probably run a channel...I just need some more info on attaching it.

I like the way these look. Really makes the trailer look awesome. Show trailer quality.

Maybe I'll have one made after I sell my Aristocrat, since I think it's going to be awhile until that happens...

I don't have a channel on mine, it attaches with multiple twist lock devices. Doug's are the same. I got my poles from walmart on-line. They were free shipping on all camping supplies at the time. I think about 9 bucks apiece. Marti also sells a higher quality/more expensive pole. My awning ran, if I remember correctly, around a hundred and a half. The quality and custom job was well worth it. I will have mine at the Dam gathering too. Marti was was there last year as well.

You got a good deal on a great awning!!! I was thinking they might start way above that figure!

I'll check out the twist lock thing. If Marti is at the Dam I will for sure have her check out the Grasshopper and give me a professional opinion. I may want some sides on it or something different...removable sides or something..or not.

I didn't see a link to a website showing her designs..just the fb page which I 'liked' and will share as much as possible.

This is one that she did for my Field and Stream. It also snaps to the side of the trailer. I'll have it at Shasta.

I've got studs on each side of the Voyager so the awning can attach to either side...also have a track on the Nomad. Marti can do it either way...both work really well for me. I can also show you how to use some old shock corded tent poles for cross members in the top...The advantage to that is..you don't need any guy ropes to stake it down. It supports itself! Wind permitting however....Doug

I stole Doug's idea fair and square. He is right on about the the latches on either side and the shock corded top. Makes it so you don't even have to stake it when there is no wind, and gives an arch to the top so I can stand up straight under the awning. Plus rain rolls off!
