No Teardrop Sightings

Postby Vedette » Mon Oct 29, 2012 1:52 am

Once again, I was reading thru a thread here on the Forum. Just to find that another Forum memeber has travelled across the country without seeing another teardrop???
I guess that we think that there are so many of us here talking about holidaying with our tiny trailers that we forget how vast the countries we are traveling in are! And how slim the odds are that we will cross paths, with each other when you look at all the different factors of how we travel as individules.
Guess that is why it is so important to communicate with the new friends you have met here on the Forum, or support the "Gatherings" that are organized soley to help bring us together.

When my girlfriend & I were at Arches national park this past summer I spotted a parked tear with a license plate that said CAMP-INN.

Later that evening when we got back to where our tear was parked they ended up being our neighbors for the night.

Turns out it was the brother-in-law of one of the two guys who started the company & they'd borrowed it for the trip. Super nice guy.

We encountered two this summer on our trip west and one was seen in our small town at the local store a week or so ago.

Like I said Slow, go to a "Gathering" or "Put One On" and you will see your share of TD's and meet some new friends.

It must be a regional thing (although, just a couple of years ago, I'd have agreed) ... ... but in the last couple of years, it has been rare that I don't see another teardrop on the road whenever I travel around California & Oregon during camping season! But yeah, I talk to friends all over the country who hardly ever see a TD in their travels.

Wait 'til next season ... from what all the Mfgs. I've been talking to say, there will be a whole lot more of em on the roads, so keep our eyes peeled ... ;) ...!

I live on the access road to a state park in MS and I see one at least every 2 weeks give or take going or coming from the park. Don't know how many I miss when I'm not outside and see them go by. About once every 2 months I will see one on the interstate either here or in LA.

I was in Perry GA visiting my aunt couple summers ago there was a red VW and a red TD sitting in her local bank parking lot.
she said she has seen it around town several times.
We have several bicycle rallys during the year here in Xenia Ohio
I have seen several TD's there plus one very small one which was being pulled behind a bike.
but I will admit the sightings are few and far between otherwise.

Kent,

Indeed, that would have been my brother-in-law Eric you ran into. Him and the family had a heck of a great trip. Hard to miss Eric, isn't it?

We live in a very highly visited tourist area here on the edge of the Coral Sea. We have never seen a TD anywhere here or when we traveled down to Victoria, about 1800 miles south. It looks like ours will be the only one this side of the black stump.

Here in So Cal, I have probaly seen a half dozen or so, usually parked in a grocery store or big box parking lot. I normally hang around until the owner comes out and we then have quite a chat about our little rigs. Most of them are Little Guys.

Sometime in the summer I saw a truck pulling a teardrop followed by a jeep pulling 2 teardrops behind it at once on I-55 in Louisiana.

I just got back from a 5000 miles round trip to LCGVII. The only other teardrop I saw on the road was near Dallas and it was another tear from the gathering.
