New Waffle Dog Iron

Postby Vedette » Thu Feb 20, 2014 1:41 am

Well, someone got a great deal on an Original Waffle Dog Iron c/w box, on Ebay today.
Paid less than half of what I paid for one last week  and less than the repo ones re listed for on Ebay.
Hope it one of our members here on the Forum!

Mo just got one from Ebay last week. I wonder if that is the one you are refering to? We have been keeping an eye out for one for quite some time and then really wanted one after the waffle dog cookout at the IRG in 2012. We are looking forward to getting ours but we have one slight caveat, we have gone to a vegan diet since last July. So I'm not sure what we are going to cook in our waffle dog cooker. Mo will no doubt come up with something. Can't wait.

Ours is still on the other side of the border, waiting for us to pick it up. :(
But, they say "Good things come to those who wait"
The one I mentioned today is a new listing and an Original, not a Magnum.

Tofu dogs? Fruit goes great in them (put a little cream cheese in too). Muffin batter cooks up well in them. Maybe a Waffle Dog version of bananas foster. Hmm, I'm going to have to figure out that one. Use your imagination. Something will come to you.

Got it tonight. Looks to be in good shape. Just says Waffle Dog on the casting. We will certainly find something to cook in it. I love the fruit idea, that should be a bit of fun, eh?

 I wonder if Bob Henry's upside down banana cake recipe could be converted to a Banana's Foster waffle dog recipe.

Brush a little brown sugar/butter mix into the iron, hit it with some batter and a banana, and cook it up. Might have to watch out for the sugar caramelizing and sticking, but if you use plenty of butter, ripe bananas, and cook it low and slow I bet it would work!

Splash of rum and dab of whipped cream or fresh churned vanilla ice cream and BAM!

Add some rum and flame off the alcohol and I'm in. (Actually I'm in even without the rum.).

Glen, look in the recipe section for "Waffle-butt". Oh never mind, here it is: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=47692

How about cornbread around catfish (or bugs for that matter)?

Not sure I could live in New Orleans and be on any kind of diet. That is just too much temptation for this food lovin fellow.

I sent this forum link to my son and he wonders about using sausage instead of a hot dog. Hmmm, that has possibilities, especially with some hot Italian sausage.
