What's in a name?

Postby Zipline65 » Sat Jul 19, 2014 11:49 am

We have started working on our recently purchased modified tear. It needs a little repair work done and we are changing the galley a little. I have planned a fun color makeover of the exterior. With an August deadline for completion it occurs to me that we need a name for our new little camper. I'm wondering how all the interesting and fun trailer names have come about. Anyone care to share?

Well, I got chased inside by the current shower (I work outside in my parking pad, the houses in my neighborhood were all originally built with no garages), so I have time to answer this. It starts out simple. I have a black car, and the first trailer was white, so we started thinking penguin. Then it gets more complicated. My mom and Italian-American step-dad took a photography trip to Antarctica where they took pictures of, among other things, Macaroni penguins.

Oh, perfect!!! Not only does he have a bit of color other than just black and white, he's Italian!!!

Penguino was duly christened. It became Penguino I when it blew over in high winds and I immediately decided to build a new trailer, Penguino II. This time we intend to have a couple of images of Macaroni penguins around the exterior of the trailer to emphasize its name.

That's a good story, Catherine. Except for the demise of Penguino I. I've been trying to think of a name that works with my very long quest for our tear. It took a long time to bring my husband on board. Thanks for sharing.

"Yes Dear" sounds appropriate ;)
Give a person a fish and you feed them for a day; teach a person to use the Internet and they won't bother you for weeks.

It took me two to three years before it came to me. "Interstate Explorer" It just fits.

While that works for me, I think my husband might not approve.

This might be a way to approach a name for us. We plan on visiting all the National Parks with our Tear.

I named my little Puck "Reba" because she was an Eriba Puck.

We call ours "the camper". Its been said that it shows we have as much imagination and originality as Efrim Zimbalist Jr.'s parents.

My wife named it. She walked out into the garage one day when I was building it. She looked at me a said "It's good that you are building your own dog house for when you make me mad". The name stuck.

Too funny. We've been referring to ours as the camper. I think we will try to be a tad more creative.
