Favorite Modification

I always like seeing things people have done to make their trailers work better for them. What's your favorite modification to make your trailer more useful of comfortable for you?

Mine is the swing out Camp Chef oven. I really like having the oven, and while I would have preferred a pull out slide, I didn't have space, so I came up with this.

I love our pull outs (hollow bars that pull out to 10' wide) that have holes for any attachment you might have in mind.
They are next to AC plugs that are controlled from inside the TD. Thus, we can plug in our outside lamp, patio lights, etc and turn them on and off from "Inside" Miss Piggy.
They are also used to secure our ezee up or pop up shower/ change room without pegs (useful when on hard surfaced parking area) or anything else that may need to be secure if windy.

So far my favorite modification was adding a drawer pull to the underside of the overhead shelf (just to the left when I open my door) to create a small closet rod where I can hang about 10 items of clothing including jackets, bulky sweaters, and shirts that wrinkle. A tiny change that made a huge difference especially traveling in cold weather.

Nice modification Stacie.
Mine is using a old dishwasher silverware rack to hold my spoons.and knives.

Or my propane radiate tube heater as a bigger modification.

Our best mod was to add two pieces of 2 inch receiver to the front and back of the trailer that adds four places to insert the pieces for several different styles of tables that we use with our trailer. With the four "options" we can move the tables around in multiple configurations depending on the campsite.

Mine was pulling the right door off in my Hunter galley and slipping in a 7-gallon Reliance water jug. I stole that idea off of... an old post on TNTT.


I've since repeated it like an echo bouncing off a cliff.


Just pull the jug out beyond the lip of the floor and you've got running water.

With this little 4x8, it's a 4-gallon Reliance:

Those are some great ideas. I may have to use some of them. The drawer pull could solve my jacket storage problem .

Wow. Glad to see people like the mini closet rod idea

One little detail I didn't mention before. I bind the hangers together while in transit. If the rod isn't full enough sometimes they bounce out. I started with a piece of 1" wide ribbon but then upgraded to two pieces of velcro that wrap around the silver wire part right above where it attaches to the wood. That seems to do the trick!

Stacie, yer a true teardropper with the teardroppers mantra ( KISS ). I'm certain that I will be using yer idea !

My favorite modification to my 1946 homebuilt was to fully insulate the cabin and sheet it with paneling. Makes fer cool summers and warm winters.

I think my roof rack was the handiest thing I added as it frees up a lot of room that bulky items use to take up in the truck bed.



Next is my grab bars that now also double as curtain rods.

I guess my below-the-floor footwell, with the flip up, wall to wall table and the fold-flat interior cabinet, allows me to enjoy the comforts of eating my prime rib dinner with 3 guests. All in secluded comfort within my 4 foot wide little woody, which I guess makes it my favorite modification so far.
