Son of Hibachi grill

General Discussion about almost anything Teardrop or camping related

I didn't see that lid--so that's a big plus for the kind of Q that I like to do.

Actually, depending on the amount of cooking surface, you could use it as a smoker:

By loading up only one side with coal and adding wood chips…putting a pork shoulder on the other and closing the lid…you got yourself a smoker.
Here we go again!

I use to see the little piggy Q's hibachi's in Cracker Barrel's BUT hav'nt seen one for a while not -- not that I frequent Cracker Barrels that often.

Most likely cheap Chinese knockoffs.

I picked up one of these Son of Hibachi grills at a big classic car parts and antiques sale in Wichita Kansas last year for $10. I just thought it was an old small grill that would work with my camper. I had no idea how cool it was till i watched the vids!! Mine only came with the grill the two grill surfaces and the lid/handle thing. I gotta have the bag and the ash tray. I wish i knew about it being "self cleaning" a long time ago. lol Now i cant wait to try lighting it standing up like that. Looks FUN! Or maybe im still feeling a buzz from all that hype on the infomercial.
Im not lazy. I just hang out a lot.

How long doe's the bag stay warm? Could you use it after dinner to heat up the inside of your trailer. Or better yet a bed warmer.

This grille is very cool, but I had the same concerns. The best way to get good smoke flavor is to have a cover. That aside, I still would consider it because I wouldn't have to bring along the metal tube coal starter/burner. If the coals get started as quickly as the add implies. It would be worth the money in time alone. I could easily modify a large square deep cake pan as a lid if the "loading up only one side" idea didn't work.

Thanks for sharing Duane!

Still using it? My wife found this and wants one. Looks good, but I don't want a cheap piece of stamped tin in my trailer, like the Coleman hibachi....

Sounds like a good sear is possible....it's so hard to do that without a 600 degree grill....
