It really looks like an earlier smaller, more compact predecessor to the T@B (the T@B's actual predecessor being from the 1960s, again, in Germany).

If you want to know what it would look like with a rear galley area, take a look at the Streamline Midget plans from the 1940 Modern Mechanics magazine ... pretty darn close ...

Cool trailer, BTW, Finn!

hi Heikki,

Tonight I'm gonna look and surf if I can find anything for you. I have some Dutch sites in mind. Hold on and keep patient.

The minute I saw this picture, I thought that it may have been the general inspiration for the look of the (late) Airstream Base Camp. Or were there other design inspirations that spawned both the Base Camp and the Condor?

Hey, Capn!

Wonderful lil trailer! Great profile...

If you look at the second trailer in the B/W pic you can see the trailer frame exposed, although painted whereas the first trailer in the color pic is a cleaner build which partially hides the trailer chassis.

The car, an English Ford, is a Model Y and was produced in the early 1930s... Our North American 1933 and 1934 Fords were scaled-up versions of this very Model Y.

Hi Junebug,

Just some Airstream trivia:

Wally Byam, the Airstream founder, drew up and sold trailer plans as
a business before he started Airstream. It seems there were various
designs - 'tho' I haven't seen any examples -, But one was built from
supposedly 1935 plans, by a Doc Holman. If you search around
Airstream sites on the web you'll run across info on it I'm sure.

I just surprised myself and came across this:

It is supposedly the only example built. I would speculate that would
be the Base Camps inspiration for shape.

Cheers,

Here are three more examples of that 'one-off' trailer from plans:

I hope no-one is shocked by the legs of the hussies in the first photo, but that's the internet for you - nothing but porn wherever you look....
