 I've found it works best to go fast enough to stay ahead of trailer, but not so fast it can't keep up :? :R

Has anyone checked the speed rating of their trailer tires?

you may find that they do in fact have a speed rating.

Not knowing what tires are the OP's trailer it would be hard to say how fast he can tow

if he would post we could find out.

on my Travel Trailer using trailer tires speed rating was if I remember correctly between 60 and 65.

remember they were trailer tires not truck or car tires.

I've gotten mine up to 100 but that is NOT a Harbor Freight trailer. I think you will be fine as long as you have some weight back there and watch your rear view. With the smaller 12" wheels comes the rub. Check your wheel bearings more often. If those are good, the whole trailer is not going to come apart. :)

Just used mine to move from Murphys, CA to Bakersfield, CA. It was packed to the ceiling with the weight in the front.
Drove most of the way between sixty and sixty five with an occasional
blast somewhat faster. No problems. I always check both the tires and the bearing caps whenever I stop. The tires were warm and the caps were cool to the touch. I could not ask for more. I DID however, change out the original bearings for Timken bearings after a near miss on a bearing cage meltdown.
I HAVE been told to slow down by CHP over their PA system.

I was at Harbor Freight the other day, and all their trailers were on sale. Better get down there and start making sawdust!

I read this on another site
"Trailer max speed is related to the tire rating. I bought the Haul Master model 90154 (4'x8" BED WITH 12" TIRES). Instructions stated the Max speed at 45 mph. The 12 inch tires were rated for 55 mph with a load of less than 1200 lbs. Dean"

other than the TD who lost a wheel and hub I haven't read about anyone here having tire issues.

I pulled La Tortuga at 60 on the way up and home from the Dam Gathering and got 18 mpg going up and 19 mpg coming home.. I pretty happy with that . Thats with a F150 V6 .. I have an 87 ford getaway camper van that gets 14 at best.

we had the cruise control set @ 75mph for 800 miles back down the east coast with no problems fully loaded last time. H/F kit base, the tires got warm but not hot, and same with the hubs
