Looks to me like there are scrape marks on the side of that drop floor. That would indicate that it can be raised from the lowest position.

Doug, If you look closely at the scrapes on the drop floor, you will see marks that make me believe that the drop can be raised for clearance. The interior shots also lead me to believe the whole pan raises up for travel. But not knowing anything about these things, I could be wrong.

Thanks for posting those great Pics! Do you know if it is an older build that's
been restored [most likely], or a new build [you never know], built to look
vintage?

The drop floor looks to be way too low to tow, so I suspect they must have
some sort of raising/lowering mechanism. Any info on that?

Sorry, missed your post.... It is a 1948-1950 home built according to the new owner.

I didn't ask, but it is a solid dropped floor, contrary to the scrape marks everyone is talking about.

Greg's (vairman) Super Tear has a dropped floor that is retractable. Once it's down you could never tell that it's not solid.

Update! I apologize, I was wrong about the dropped floor. Spoke to the person who first acquired the trailer for his client. Had some other DMV questions I was trying to find answers to, but asked about this subject trailer.

It has an electric motor that raises and lowers it! The motor was burned out, so it was stuck in position pictured. Certainly these design options should open up a few more creative future builds.

It's funny how some of the creative designs around here seem new, but at some point in time, it has all been done before!

Thanks for the update Cliff! It's hard to get info at times, especially on a
'one off' design.

The electric motor drop floor lift sure fits in with the top level design and
great craftsmanship that your pics show. The 'collective hunch' was correct
in the end.

I hope they can lift the floor manually prior to transport - it must be
possible - otherwise I can't see how they could tow it without damaging the
drop floor. That gem certainly deserves to be conserved and utmost care
taken with it.
