Hi Thomas/2bits,

Good to hear you have an alternate route in and a "straightforward" one
at that [pun intended] and therefore have adequate space to move it in.
I had forgotten that the land had had a MH on it before. And good to hear
you've got the bases covered for the move in. I just wanted to give a
'heads-up', since if someone has never had a MH moved on their own before,
[not having just purchased it from a dealer, and then the dealer delivers the
MH to its location] there are a lot of things to consider and it's great to hear
you're on top of it all. That'll help things go smoothly on moving day.

As far as wanting to close off the existing, wide, straight-shot driveway
in, but keep it reversible: perhaps you could build a couple of movable planters
out of PT wood that could take small to medium shrubs that could grow
out and block the view in - that may be a watering problem though.
Alternately, decide on the width needed to be kept free, say 16ft,
and then build a tall gate out of a couple of privacy fence
panels [conveniently,I think they're @ 6ftx8ft] . Then plant a couple
rows of closely spaced cedar/arbor vitae [whatever will grow there]
shrubs/small trees on both sides out to blend in to the existing mature
tree area to help block the view. Paint/place sign(s) of "private property",
"back gate","posted" etc.. If you want to go far out, paint the roadside
of the tall gate like a rocky mountainside with a black tunnel opening,
and in that tunnel opening, paint a round white train headlight - maybe
strangers will take the hint? Ha!

I will however inject a note of caution. My dad was an agricultural extension service agent and one of the areas he was consulted on was creating fire brakes around dwellings. With the changes/uncertanty in weather and early rash of very big fires in the US it is important to be mindful of this potential.

Thanks for the info on the gate! I guess now that I think about it, another point would not so much be others looking in since they are driving by at 60mph, but also me being seeing them while looking out! I was thinking about an inner gate and then parking my standy there since it is kind of an open area where I can work on the resoration so that would help and it would be movable if needed too.

Shadow, I don't plan on cutting anymore trees so I am just going to have to hope for the best! I do have a 20 foot easement that separates me from the road that hoepfully would help against cigarette smokers who like to flick their lit butts out of the window.

Hi Guys, I thought I would give an update to the 2bits Woodlands campground...

I am in the FINAL stages... The woodshop is moved in, and both my sheds are moved in, I took down my carport and decided I wanted a better one, so I sold it instead of moving it and my deck is gone, and now the move of the mobile home is this coming Thursday the 23rd. Today I removed the central AC unit, and the skirting. I've already taken half my stuff to my mini storage and tghe other half will go tonight or Monday. I need to pin up some insulation that is hanging down under the trailer tomorrow. I have the gas line, water, and electric all completed. I have a good mover that I like and FIVE days from today, I will wake up camping every day!

Party central... The circle driveway with the firepit area in the middle... Now if I can get a 16 foot car hauler around that corner, I am expecting that it will be enough to get some 10 foot teardrops through because there will be a number of camping spots beyond this point as well as on the loop itself.

Dream homesite. I am envious. Before you close off that big straight driveway you might want to get a couple of dump truck loads of gravel if the budget will allow. Maybe Texas mud is different than Utah mud and you don't get stuck in it.

Yeah the driveway will be closed off visually, but not "useably". I want to make it hidden but to be able to open it as needed for large deliveries. The second driveway will be trailer friendly, but not dump truck friendly LOL... It is high on my list to utilize craigzlist "free stuff" for gravel, pea gravel, river rock, railroad ties etc There are posts there all the time and many times if you bring a 16 foot trailer they will load you up too. I can't afford to buy the stuff so I'll just take a couple months pulling a load at a time because it does get a bit slippery out there! It has an existing gravel driveway up to where the house but that is it, so I will be fine for now and just expand out from there.

FYI, I have not found an internet provider as yet. The only real option is satellite, I have great line of sight with the easement out front, but they have transfer limits, so I am still working on getting around that since I need to be available to work from home. I am seeing if my work has an offering. So in turn, I will be offline starting Thursday, for at least two weeks to a month. My cell is not an iPhone or smart phone so it has very limited internet ability, I can check email only.
