Those look nice. A guy down the road from me has one. He paid around $6K.

They had one Alite around here and if i recall it was 7k. i did not see that model being set up but have seen the larger A frame trailers and real easy to go up and down. at 600 lbs that may be the way to go. good luck.

Ok, I have to ask ... what is a "tent trailer"?

When I hear that I think of something like this...

What I don't think of is a pop up.

If you were willing to drive up to Canada, which is not that far from St-Louis, you could look at one of these. http://www.roulottesprolite.com/english/suite.htm I met a person at the Tear Up the ADK who had one. She towed it with a Matrix or Vibe.

It's a cute little trailer. It's light like a teardrop, but with more space. Pricewise, it comes in about the same class as the Quicksilver 6 and a nicer Little Guy.

Ive been looking at the teardrops and the small motorcycle tent trailers. I need something that can be towed safely by a 05 ford focus.

I really like the solid state of the teardrops, but like the room of the tent trailers (ability to stand up) I was trying to find a teardrop that would be wide enough to put a dog crate and possibly a twin mattress inside. The little guy rascal is actually not wide enough for this. Im afraid the 4 wide will be too heavy to pull with my focus. This is when I started looking into Tent Trailers

I tow my 5'X8' TD with my wife's '01focus just fine, for stand up ability you would need a side tent, or a drop floor hatch like wolfarmer has. My 5x8 had room for an 18 gal. bin next to the twin mattress I used in it. I don't think there is a tent trailer made that the Focus would tow very safely, other than a motor cycle one and those are like sleeping in a pup tent for headroom.

If you don't mind going vintage, there were some older tent trailers built back before the RV industry was so greatly affected by More's Fallacy. (If a little is good, more's better.) The Coleman Columbia was a true 950 lb popup, and the Coleman Colorado was even lighter, but it didn't have a hard roof. The problem is that the industry has kept making them bigger and heavier, and now you need a truck to pull a newer one.

We have a 1966 Apache Buffalo Mesa that weighs about 750 lbs empty. We tow it with a Geo Tracker, and have no problem.

This is our Apache on a recent campout.

"Dachs are evil" You always remember your firsts, like dates and dog bites, my first came from a Dachs, Cub scout den mother told me he did not "bite" bout made a woman out of me!! Depending on how many dog shows you attend, may be cheaper to do a motel 6 that takes pets. Heck trade fleas for bed bugs!
If you tow anything with a focus be sure it is properly equipped like a trans cooler. Had an appache once, had a heck of a time getting a wheel off till I finally saw the R on the stud! Came right off when I turned it the R way. Bill

This idea has kicked up and might be a good place to go if you build. TJ did a great job in designing it.
