I'd take a well behaved, trained, mannered K9 over most any of the kids that I've had to camp next to. As with kids...it all depends on who is doing the raising of them and just how much time and effort one puts into their upbringing. Doug

I agree with you, Doug. As a non -parent, dogs are much easier to train!!!

Sunny Day has been raised as my companion since she was 11 weeks old. She is well behaved (I don't think anyone would disagree), has pretty good manners, and only barks if it is truly important.

She rode with me for 6,600 miles while I toured the West Coast last year (too bad I didn't have a tear drop and didn't know about you guys), and she never caused a ruckus. I stayed in campgrounds, with friends and in motels without complaints. And she was barely past 15 months old.

No, she's not perfect (neither am I????), but the best command I've ever taught a dog is "No Bark!!!". Although not a barker, she did understand the command the few times she didn't understand a noise and wanted to make sure I was aware it.
