Lens' photos show the only issue with building a 5x8 on a 4x8 frame, the fenders. However, the fenders are easily compensated for.

If you have the time, definitely go for the 5x8. My new build is a 4x8 simply (and only) because I need to build it very quickly and lots of things come in the 4x8 dimension. It is a timesaver only. Good luck on the build!

5x8 for sure with 2 doors for sure. you will not regret it for sure. the overhang of 6 inches each side with proper floor framing and attachment points to the trailer frame will be fine. and like others said you could go upto 10 feet a foot in front and a foot in back. it all depends on what you are going for. plus teh resale value will be improved. seen the 4 foot wide and teh 5 foot wide and those 12 inches make a huge difference they really do. what shape are you thinking? Well alot of things come into play with what type of trailer you want to build. What are you pulling it with. How many to sleep in it. From one upto 6 or more. What materials to build out of. Number of doors. 2 for sure. What type of roof vent or other ventilation Electrical 120 volts 12volts solar battery I recommend progressive dynamics jmo Water tank or jugs or nothing Cooler storage Counter space or cabinets in galley I have no clue how a screwdriver works or master cabinet maker What camping are u planning. Fair weather only or we take this baby out on the ice and fish from the doors. The info is here for sure and if its not ask away and a lot of ways to skin a trailer Also apply rule number 10 Measure twice cut once and pay attention to where your and others body parts are out of the way.
