A notice to "Newbeys"

Unfortunately society is changing into a me, me, me society. Nobody seems to want to put any time and effort into anything now a days. They want it and they want it now! What bugs me is they ask advise about something, and then argues with the answer you give them. Sad to say I see this happening all over these days.

Build me a trailer and I'll pick it up next week. Make it nice

Len,

The heck with the plans. Will you please send me one of your teardrops!

But seriously, I get PM's like that all the time. I no longer respond to most of them. But if a guy is nice and polite, I'll try to help him out.

This is one of the reasons I have backed off giving advice or opinions. A few who ask the questions has already got his mind set in a direction and when you say something different they just want to argue with you. I'll answer PM's quicker than open post. The thing is that when I give a direction or opinion, I always say why. Plus there are some on this board that don't like my straight forward answers or statements. :o

It's to bad it's to that point. I would never argue, maybe give my opinion and listen to others opinions and then make my own decision. That's why it's called a "Forum"!

I'm the odd man out it seems, for every 100 ask'rs, there is one who gets it....That makes it all worth while
going on 30 years working on trailers almost 30,000 hours in the trade, you can imagine I have been asked it all a million and then some. Sometimes they get it, most times they don't.
Most annoy but you don't let it show, but every now and then someone gets it and that's awesome.
To survive in this modern world of me me me its tough. If you don't want to share your knowledge, then maybe a forum is not the right place for you.
And if your doing it for praise??????
Then your worse then the ME ME's
If it ain't broke, fix it till it is

Ive asked plenty of questions but only ever PM'ed one member for advice on their doors.

Ive tried to give stuff back in special jigs/tools ive made so hopefully it balances out!

If I find a solution to my own stuff, I try to add it to the post as a closing remark, to help people in the future with the same problem.

It really annoys me when people ask something, get some advice then don't update the thread on whether it worked or not

Amen to that. I was reading this one thread, guy comes on, asks questions, few months later posts a comment "Thanks for the advise, I finished my build", no pics, no thread, 8 total posts.

Hello all ,
I am definitely a " newbie " & have asked questions & have searched the forum for many hours . I have gotten some very good advice from members on a number of topics & I'm thankful for that info . I really don't have much to offer back just yet as I haven't even started my TD . I thought that I knew exactly what I wanted shortly after I joined the forum, but as time went along I found out that I wanted something totally different, mostly from reading this forum .Sometimes there is so much info to read through, that it's difficult to find an applicable answer, so posting a question ( even though it has been answered before )seems to be the best way to go .I feel as though I already know a lot of you folks although we have never met . I look forward to getting on with my project TD & hopefully meeting up with some of the good folks who make up this forum .

I'll catch you down the road a piece ,

Bob

Hi Bob,

We all ask questions, lots of questions. I'm sure I far exceeded my allotment in the first few months.

We appreciate you doing your search, but if you don't get the answers you need or want, please don't EVER hesitate to ask your questions. Those who want to answer will , those who don't aren't obligated to do so. I think you will find though that you will always have an abundance of answers to most any question!! Which will lead to even more ideas......and often to even more questions.

I have been on a lot of forums and I have found the people on this board to be among the friendliest and most helpful on the net. We'll be looking forward to your build journal when you get started. Before you know it you will be chiming in to answer questions for some newbey down the line.

Welcome!!
Life is sooooo good.........
