I agree with the "getting away" mentality. I do enjoy attending gatherings and have had great fun and met wonderful people. However, most of my camping is done solo, with my camper dog. I recently spent 3 days next to a group of 20 somethings with several children and lots of dogs. One of the children only made negative sounds all the time. Fortunately I met some nice folks on the other side of the campground and spent time visiting with them, when I wasn't off hiking or exploring the area. Why is it that children feel the need to scream all the time when outside and where are the parents? Certainly not keeping their children from disturbing other campers.
I'm done with my rant now, and yes, I do feel better.
PS - I am also a parent and my son was NEVER allowed to behave in the ways that I have witnessed other children in campgrounds. Now I'm really done. LOL
