We were Blessed to have someone sell us a boler on payments. About 1200lbs and sleeps 4, tows easy. Even had a canvass add-a-room (now rotted) the front couch flips up to bunk beds. It was great when the kids were little but now it is a little small with 2 teenagers.

I toured the national parks with 3 kids in a minivan (no tent Or teardrop). I would sleep in the front seat with a duffel bag under my feet (like sleeping in a recliner) ;) . One in the other front seat and two on the floor in the back. Between parks drive to 10:00 find a Walmart. Wake at sunrise drive until 8:00 or 9:00. Find a picnic table. Wake the kid make breakfast. See a park lots of fun. Four two week trips and around 30 parks. From Minnesota to Carlsbad and Grand canyon , Yellowstone, Canada parks to Vancouver island, and DC and the Smokes Mountains Road trip vacation in the cheap!

I did that too may years. To cramped even when I had the whole SUV to myself. That is why I'm working on a TTT, pop up variety. I want a self contained base camp with all the amenities.

Sized to fit in the slipstream behind a SUV. Yes, the front of the top lifts more than the rear. Full standing height in the kitchen, shower, toilet area, and reducing height over the bed/sofa. The cowgirl is 5' 8.5" tall. The design is a work in progress and changing daily. In fact I drew up a whole new top curve earlier today. The rear is now 4" shorter.

Consign the kids to tent(s)... That way their sleeping accommodations can expand and change with them. ;)

We have a pop-up for family camping and a homebuilt teardrop for local nearby trips where kids can sleep in a tent when the weather is predicted to be good. Now the kids are getting older and don't have time to camp much due to work schedules, my husband and I are thinking of selling the pop-up after we build a 7 x 12 tear drop standy. A small pop-up is easy to tow long distances and is very comfortable for a family.
