Diesel owners are always early risers. ;)

I've slept in the local walmart parking lot in my car, taped paper over the windows and went to sleep late at nght, until the morning wave of airliners thundered over, one every min. or so from the local airport...

I like to park in truck stops parking lot away from trucks and pumps or rest areas on highway. But I must tell you that I pack when traveling, don't carry it in car so they don't say nothing to me. Never had anyone even knock on door after dark, but hope I never do I will answer it with my friend. Think I'll get sticker that states ONLY CARRYING 20$ WORTH OF AMOM that might help keep people away.

I can't speak from experience, but have had many conversations with people who have parked in Wal-mart overnight. In the meantime, there are apps for that:

I'm sure there is an app for the iPhone devices, but you'll have to google that yourself.

I remember reading on some site about Walmart camping that a guy in a camper shot and killed someone who got into the trailer, then sued Walmart for not providing a secure lot. We've done only one night in a Walmart, and that was because I had got lost, it was late, and no campground in the area. Went in and asked the manager if it was OK, he asked when we would be leaving in the morning so he could pass on the info to the day manager. Emailed Cracker Barrel one time to ask if they allowed overnight parking, was told no, but have heard that some do it. Found a you tube video of campers getting kicked out of Walmart lot.And how about those "people of Walmart" you tube videos, would you like them knocking on your door.

rest areas and truck stops can have their own issues with "lot lizzards", trucker friend of mine complained he didn't get any sleep in one place from women (and men) knocking on his truck all night long... :frightened:

Most casinos welcome rv travelers. I have found that once you get off the interstate that just about all towns have a small park. Many have playgrounds, picnic tables etc. Now days you can look on google earth and find them. Most are in residential areas and you can watch a little league ball game if you are there at the right time. Some have bathrooms. the last one I stayed at was south of 3 rivers Mich. They even had a water spigot. Too much activity in truck stops, both good and bad. If you do stop the advantage is a shower . Be sure to park up wind, the exhaust of idling trucks will choke you. Never spent the night at a Walmart.
Some campgrounds want to see the restricted parking since it takes away from their business. $30 bucks a night is kinda high if all you plan to do is sleep. Have safe travels. Bill

Having been A driver for Walmart for 18 years I have even been told I had to go somewhere else because of city ordinances. I was in my WMT truck with Walmart on the door property and vehicle and still had to go else where, LOL :?
