I think you can only get 14 psi with vacuum clamping.

If you put the item in a decompression chamber, take it down to 7 to 20 atmospheres (roughly 200 to 500 feet), and then vacuum bag it, it would work.

Seems to me that carpet (re-repurposed or new) would be a good media to get the vacuum to the entire surface area).

Years ago I bought an industrial SS vacuum cleaner. I got the one with the highest (or lowest depending on your point of view) static pressure I could find. It pulls about 105" of water, about 1/4 atmosphere, or about 3.6 psi. Even 3.6 psi is over 500 pounds per square foot or 16,000 if yer bagging a 4' X 8' piece of plywood.

Them inches or psi add up.

Just my two scents.
