my tear sidewalls are 4 feet from the tear floor to the roof, on the outside. (full width of the sheet sitting on top of the trailer deck) this makes my tear slightly taller than my car, and the same height as my van. I can't see that you would need any more height above the bed. add windows and mirrors to keep the inside from feeling tight. (Boeing has spent a TON of money on aircraft interiors recently to make the same size jet look bigger and airier inside, rows of indirect LED's washing onto a layered ceiling, along with blue tints to give the suggestion of blue sky, actually work great)
we love our interior space, part of which comes from a larger outside shape like the Benroy. When I look at smaller more rounded designs they look cramped to me.
Lights, (we have a dimmable rope light as our interior light in the tear, it gives good light without glaring or shadow casting) light colors inside, and windows will make any smaller space look bigger.
