Brian, I can furnish some plans for you, to build a roof-mounted wooden satelite dish, a flip-down Sony plazma TV ,complete with connecting cable into the galley area. Works just fine, except I can only get two programs, one is a Woody Woodpecker show and the other is some Pinochio clips. Better yet, you better stick with the other kind that some have suggested.........good luck

Only problem would be welding the antenna to the roof of Kermit. :?

I bought a 19" Insignia TV from Best Buy a while back & it has a regular 120 volt AC cord but there is a transformer in the cord that drops the voltage down to 12volts DC . I think it draws 23 watts . At any rate I don't see any reason why it couldn't be powered up with 120VAC or 12 VDC ............ It's on sale right now for $89.00.

I bought that one a couple of months ago for my kitchen (for $99 at that time), and the kids have used it in the car as a monitor for computer games and for the portable CD player we take on long trips. Works fine with one of my spare 12v car cords. We haven't camped since we got it, but will probably take it.

Tis a confusing world. I see the title of this thread and have a picture in my head about putting my pickup inside a teardrop. That would not be a good thing. :D

Brian, I went the route of a tablet and MP4 movies. They are pretty cheap now and you may already have one. What has really worked well for me is a mount that can be used with the tablet to hang it above our heads and in direct line of site while laying in the tear. I was able to find a round smooth disk of the same size as the suction cup, and mounted these disks into my ceiling ply and also inside a cubby in my cabinet area. The tablet with mount can be moved to either location and viewed while laying down or in a upright seated position. It works great. No antenna's, no commercials, just the entertainment I want to view and bring.

Most tablets now have bluetooth and can wirelessly broadcast to a remote speaker system. Here is mine. http://www.amazon.com/The-OontZ-Angle-Ultra-Portable-Soundworks/dp/B008JGR9MO/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1419177120&sr=8-2&keywords=bluetooth+speakersThis same speaker can play music from my phone and they sound great. Plus it is easy to move the speaker out of the trailer to where the party is. My little speaker recharges by usb from any 12 volt source. The tablet gets recharged the same way.

Originally, I had a small DVD player but that quite working. I think it got bounced around to much in the trailer. Tablets, being solid state, are pretty durable, plus can be moved to the car while traveling.

BTW, I enjoyed meeting you at the IRG last summer. Jerry in San Jose

Thanks Jerry
The jury is still out on having some sort of Movie Watching capabilities for the Teardrop.
Starting to think about the Grandchildren??? Or maybe the day that I might have to Sleep in it alone??
Love that Tablet mount!
Thanks again!
Look forward to the next time we cross paths.
Merry Christmas

These days, I'd use a tablet, android being my preference, but whatever floats your boat. Make a little hanger, or just use a stand on the shelf. Very tiny, charges via USB (install some USB / 12V plugs in the cabin) and is useful for many other things also. It won't play DVDs, but unless you have a large collection, this won't matter much moving forward ...

Not much to install, just a bracket or hook within cord length of a charger.

My wife having poor eye sight needs more then a tablet for a wall mounted unit. When it comes our time to add one it will probably be in the 19" to 22" range

We had a spare 22 inch LCD TV, so I mounted it in the TD. It runs off of a 90W inverter with no problems. I also have a ROKU 2XS, its one of the older models I got a deal on it refurbished. Its got a USB plug, that I plug a 100GB laptop drive into to watch movies. If we happen to be somewhere with decent internet it can also connect to Netflix and the like.
It uses a 12V wall wart, that I plug into the inverter with the TV, but one of these days I may make a 12V cord for it.
I'm considering removing it though. The TV is primarily to entertain my son and I after dark, or if the weather isn't good. We both have ipads, and usually bring them, so we could probably do use the TV space for something else.
