Interesting design. Will watch this one to see how it comes together.

I tried searching for Paddlehead but nothing comes up. Is there a build journal on that project?

Later I may ask you about your curved windows.

Clive

Hi vedette

Its a thicknesser
A wide planer with a motorized feed.
Very good finish, very accurate thickness, very expensive; I also have a bed and twoo exterior hard wood doors to make.

Brian, you wouldn't recognize it, because it's for wood ;)

Clive, that's going to be an interesting and challenging build; I look forward to watching it.

Love the thicknesses I've been showing much restraint at not getting one myself but my trusty table saw has been invaluable with my project

Hi vedette
Chev PU corner windows

Yes that's the kind of thing, I may want something bigger.
However watch this space. After I have been working on the dam thing for 6months I may be cutting corners.

Hi Clive,

I can appreciate your desire to build for a "look" as well as practicality.
I just personally gravitate to practicality first, then "make it look good"
afterwards.

A Kammback is an automotive based design named after it's Austrian
auto engineer originator. The most aero efficient design is the teardrop
shape with a long tapered tail on it [To an endpoint.]. Applying that to
autos wasn't very practical for use. Kamm discovered that you can still
garner almost the same amount of aero benefit if you cut off the tapering
tail [Again taper not greater than 15 degrees.] at the point along it where
the cross-section is equal to about 50 percent of the maximum cross-sectional
area of the preceding body structure. Here is a link to the Foamie Section's
Aero thread, that has more on that and some other info that may, or may not,
be useful for you with your build: http://tnttt.com/viewtopic.php?f=55&t=49036

And angib is a UK member of the forum here, who's an engineer, and also has
a section in the Design Resources area.

Cheers,
Norm/mezmo

Hi mezmo

Excellent reply. I will do some research.

Car designer have used spoilers to achieve a similar thing. I wonder if there is a half way house.

I have seen Autodesk Flow Modeler used I think I will have a go. Better the devil you know.
