Sealed Battery Ccmpartment or Box?

Not a fan of AGM Batteries.
But, a small to tube or upper vent is note a problem( as it can vent out into a wheel well) and if the top is sealed to the inside of the TD then water from the bottom would probably not be an issue.
But, thank you to everyone who has responded to this thread, as it has give me much more food for thought and some new ideas.

I would like to remind you all that the most successful ever produced (vw beetle) had a battery mounted under the seat, with metal springs, inside on the passenger compartment, with an ashtray less than 18 inches away from it. Seemed to have very little problem with fumes. Although I have seem a few with some serious rust in that area.

auto parts warehouse ; from gofer to assistant manager
retail camera store, assistant manager and purchasing agent
playground equipment manufacturing company; my own start up
for a large large bank, check & debit card fraud investigation

Mix into that an interest in things mechanical and electrical with 3 years in engineering school (but no degree )
built and raced drag bikes and trials dirt bikes
club sports car racing,Production, FVee, FF and GT classes , (SCCA)
lifelong interest in 4x4, mostly Jeeps
Interest in construction and design, did our house and cabin
