Wow! I don't think we have anything quite like that, for that long of a distance, in the U.S. Maybe Northern Canada.

For comparison, the "loneliest road in America" is about 400 miles (650 km) long--Route 50 through the Nevada Desert, all paved--and so can be driven in 5-7 hours.

So how much would it cost to ship the teardrop down there, and rent a TV...?

Love it!

Hi Tom & Shelly, I assume you mean rent an RV, not a TV.
Why would you want to watch TV when the scenery down here is so good? As for the cost of shipping, I have no idea but I can guarantee that if you take the plunge you will not regret it.
Edit: If you do decide to come here make sure you have plenty of time to see most of it. I was talking to a guy in a bar in Paris a few years ago and he was dying to visit Australia. He had read so much about the country in a series of books by the author, Arthur Upfield. He was going to come here for a month and see it all. I told him that he could spend a month just visiting around Sydney and he still would see all of it.

Hi Richard, Thanks for the compliment on my trailer. It probably doesn't have the quality woodwork workmanship that your, and other, trailers have as my skills are mostly self taught, but it is strong, comfortable and doesn't leak. Who could ask for more. We love it. Since coming home from that trip we have been to Esperance in WA and clocked up a further 250 kms on dirt road without an issue. We are heading for the Cape Arid National Park (about 150 kms East of Esperance) in a couple of weeks for 8 -10 days of fishing and relaxing. Australia is truly blessed with these places to chill out.

Cheers

Oops--sorry Westy, I was being slightly tongue-in-cheek, implying we would ship our RV (a teardrop) down and then rent the tow vehicle (TV) to pull it. (We have no time for television in the U.S., and certainly wouldn't be watching it while visiting other countries! )

Of course, if we do manage make it to Australia one of these years, we will rent an RV rather than try and bring our own! It would be a dream vacation, and one deserving many months!
