I installed 7 led lights under the trailer. 3 along each side and one centered in the rear. These lights are switched on when the tow vehicle is in reverse illuminating the area all the way around the trailer. Great for backing up at night. The cool part is, when you get to camp you unplug the trIler from the truch and plug it into another plug on the front of the trailer. The lights are now controlled by a switch on the trailer. You can also run the running lights too. It is a really cool way to light your camp spot. Image

* Among other more-or-less unique things, or at least unusual things, I've tried while trying to "perfect" my 4x8 square back (some that have worked and others not), here are 8 that I have kept unchanged after I added them. Others, unlisted, are still being evaluated and will be listed after 100% acceptance (I always have one or two redneck-engineered gimmicks being tested at any time! That's one of the perks of building a trailer your own way, for your personal use, without caring if it meets with "her" approval! Being old and cranky helps, too.

Semi-unique features (see my gallery and posts for detailed photos)
1) onboard generator mounted on swivel/slide-out tray (plus external aluminum fuel supply tank, on separate slide-out)

2) aluminum tongue box on locking slide platform (for spare tire access)

3) interior permanently-mounted A/C unit, located in rear bulkhead, with right-angle ducting (for secure operation with hatch closed)

4) drop-down rear stabilizers (made from steel pipe and pipe clamps)

5) slide-in door barricades (made from 3/4" oak dowels and thick-walled aluminum brackets)

6) "industrial kitchen"-type stainless shelving on stainless hinges (for external front and side rack storage)

7) overhead-mounted grab-handles inside (to aid movement inside the cabin...bad back!)

8) 6"dia.x 98"long roof-mounted locking storage tube (for fishing rods & reels)

Hey, working on it.

A while back you posted about the fact that you installed overhead grab handles. As a result, I installed some in my trailer and love them. Thanks for the idea!

I made the awning so that it hinges down when not in use so I can still get it into the garage and when the awning is hinged up it gives additional head clearance. Image
