Did they state a reason why it would be discontinued? Will there be a replacement product?

They are looking for a replacement but I guess the manufacture is having some environmental issues with the chemical make up and getting the chemicals and keeping them stable and......... 8)

I panicked! I called them right up and asked, "What is going on?".

It's like you say... it's hazardous materials, and it's going to become cost prohibitive to make. So once their inventory is gone, that's it.

So I promptly ordered a couple more gallons... One to finish up the teardrop, and one to freshen it up down the road...

BTW, I put the first coat on today... here's what it's looking like...

With the second coat of Uniflex 255 on, it feels like we are headed down the home stretch. BTW, 2 gallons was enough to cover the whole thing...

Here's what it's looking like right about now...

P.S. The fridge was chock full this morning... :? :? :? not any more!

Mike:
Looks like they won't be making any Uniflex by the time I get to that point. What's the next best alternative?

You're letting that fridge get dangerously low on building supplies.

The best alternative is to buy 2 gallons now... The Rot Doctor doesn't have a replacement planned. And I am reminded again today, how good, and forgiving this paint is!!!

Mike...

P.S. An extra gallon just in case wouldn't hurt. And if you cringe at the price, look at my signature line!

P.P.S. I just bought an extra 2 gallons yesterday, just to have it on hand.

Well it will definetly be gone by the time I get to that point. Isn't something like Thompsons' water seal ok to use before putting on the primer and paint? What about the primer/paints made for outdoor use? Wouldn't that work as well if enough coats were put on of each?

Kdog... on the "budget" end of the spectrum... we have used a mixture of 25% Polyurethane and 75% mineral spirits to waterproof the wood in out door projects, even cardboard for many years...several coats slobbered on seals all the wood (sinks in)and makes a great smooth base for a primer...once lightly sanded

Yep Cliff, that's just Uniflex 255. It really does look nice!!!

I bought my Uniflex a few years ago, and I had a hard time getting the can open. But it was sealed well, and it worked as good as new.

I've been watching your build... With your CPES and your epoxy filler, you've got the base for a really nice paint job.

And don't be disappointed after your first coat. It really looks a thousand percent better after the second coat!!!
