OK, so you want pictures of an organized shop.
Image
The chop saw on the left end is a slider and is mounted on a cabinet with casters. My table saw is 34" tall and the table on that saw is at the same height. When I need to cut large boards I just roll it up to the table saw tables for support. I have two saw carts at the same height that will also work. The saw carts are for supporting sheet goods while ripping and cross cutting on the table saw. The chop saw in the foreground is mounted on a shorter cabinet to make the saw top the same height as the two bench tops. I have a self stick tape measure on the wood fence on the right and a Biesemeyer stop. The white hood behind the saw collects the saw dust through a hole that drops to the inside of the cabinet. I have a plywood box inside the cabinet that collects the sawdust.
Image
This is my back bench for assembly etc. All my pneumatic guns slide into these slots, same with the belt sander. Other tools and supplies are stored in cabinets, everything in my shop has it’s place. Normally the hand tools are scattered all over the bench top.
Image
The drill press is on casters and can be set up anywhere in the shop. Drawers beneath are for bits etc. The grinder is mounted on a solid cabinet and is very handy set up this way. Danny

Thanks Doug, I have spent countless hours and some money to make my shop effecient & enjoyable to work in. When guys make their first visit to my shop I get comments like, "This is a shop to die for". Since I spend most of my day in the shop it has to be nice. :DDanny

Doug, I really focus when I'm working and the mirror is there so I can see if anyone is coming up from behind. Over the years I have been startled many times while on the saw. I still have all 10 fingers and 2 eyes and the mirror is cheap insurance. Danny

 Is this a vanity thing or do you want to see who is sneaking up on you? Lordy Danny that is the cleanest anything I have ever seen. How do you get any work done if you clean all day? ;)
Beautiful shop

Good point Danny....a lot of people don't realize that you just don't walk up and tap someone on the shoulder when running a cutting tool...In my shop I can see anyone that enters and Daisy usually "goes off" prior to them entering the yard...yes, I still have 10 fingers, 2 eyes....just no appendix!!! Doug

And I know that there are lots of other builders out there with tidy shops and great tool storage ideas....post some pics, we can all learn from you!!!

Len sure has a clean shop, Do you take dinner out there? ;) but then his Dad is still around and probably went to the same school as Doug's Dad..' "If you'd put the tools back when you're done, then I'd know where they are when I need them, dammit!" my Dad ':D

Danny you have a shop that looks like alot of work gets done in a very organized manner. I see the cabinets are numbered in the assembly area! Heck I don't have 12 decent tools let alone that many cabinets

Kristi has the best before/after shop and would definitly win most improved!

Mary, your use of tarps has to be in a catagory of its own. Great waterproofing.

Thanks for inviting us into your shops :applause:

The numbers are for when Jane is out in the shop doing her own thing. When she asks me where something is at I just look up and see what number or letter it's in and tell her. Trying to explain second door from the bottom right....is difficult. :D Danny

Beautiful shop

Miriam, I do clean the shop several times a day when needed. Since my shop is small (923 sq ft) it's necessary to keep it clean or wood chips etc can get between the substrate and the plam or ruin a veneer, also I don't like walking & kneeling on a dirty floor. Funny thing, Jane thinks the shop is organized but dirty. Danny

If that's the case, then mine should be cleanroom sterile. My whole garage is about 450-500 sq-ft. There are 2 cars parked in it when I'm working.

I'd like to see what you are doing there. I've built one and they are actually pretty easy too.
All aluminum or wood or both?
Inquiring minds want to know.

Rich

I'll be using both wood and Aluminum. Most of it will be a plywood laminated system. Basically I'm using up all the big scraps of lumber I have laying around.

Its all part of my "being in control" of the shop.

I'm going to cover it with brake metal. The Brake is still a new toy, lots of things to try yet.

How about a few shots along the way, I'll be interested in seeing the direction you go. I have a few ideas for one for my uncles Dodge Dakota.

I hope that wasn't from a shop accident.
