Okay, lets hear the name of your A+++ dealer. Someone may have to buy a trailer from him!

So this one just sat for 2 years? What about all the people who've actually used their trailers ....ie pulled it through rainstorms/gravel roads etc.

If that much damage happened just while it was sitting on a lot I hate to see what some of the used ones are like.

Dude:

You honestly have the worst luck of anyone I know. Sound like between the dealer and the company, one of them will take care of you though

I'm going to be over your way this weekend. Let me know if you're going to be around.

Maybe you should build an all metal teardrop!

Seriously though, with regards to the 05 versus 06... My gut feeling would be to find out where the leak problem is, verify that the 06 is leak free, and then take that.

And yes, the sun will shine again.

Well I think we need to let Little Guy know how we as a forum are gonna recommend their product depending on how this is handled.

Hadn't imagined that my first post would be in such a disturbing thread.

My '08 (I think it's an '08, whatever model year is the next is being built now) Little Guy 6-wide platform is being constructed and slated for completion on September 25. I put 50% down on it two weeks ago. As soon as it is delivered -- September 28 -- I was planning on taking it to a paint shop to have it painted to match my Honda Element.

Needless to say, I don't want to spend money painting something that's prone to leak. My teardrop is going to be out in thunderstorms on a lot of my camping trips.

I will also be guided by how you are treated in this matter.

I will be e-mailing and calling Chris Baum at Little Guy in Canton, Ohio, about this and linking to this thread. He's been lovely to deal with to this point and I've been so excited about the teardrop. In fact, I've already spent a few hundred dollars on stuff for this trailer. I ordered it without cabinetry and without wall or floor covering (the carpet that comes with them).

No matter the assurances I receive I will be keeping a very, very close eye on my teardrop and will not hesitate to drive it the six hours back to Canton, if need be.

My sympathies on your disappointment and aggravation. If I bought a new car and it didn't run I'd expect the manufacturer to pick it up, replace it and throw in some free floor mats and a year of free service.

If my new trailer that is the shelter I will rely on, leaks, then I would expect profuse apologies, expedited compensation in the form of cash refund or replacement and something extra for my stress and inconvenience.

Every manufacturer makes mistakes. Little Guy's future will hinge on how they rectify their mistakes.

Best of luck to you in getting this resolved satisfactorily.

If I run into such a catastrophic problem, I will be a Witch on Wheels from DC to Canton.

And then we can talk class action.

Sandman,

This is the most amazing set of circumstances I have ever heard of. You keep gettin' struck by lightning, dude! I really feel your pain. There are so many people that don't buy a trailer without first crusing the net and doing a lot of thinking. That being the case, if Little Guy fails to make you whole on this obvious case of faulty manufacturing, well then, they will be sealing their fate as a company. Who will buy from a builder with a ruined reputation?

One other thing you need to consider. . . Given your luck lately. . .Are you sure motorcycles are the right thing to be doing?

How about quilting??? :)

He rides a KTM...it can't go fast enough to really get hurt anyway! :R

I was really suprised how bad it was...after my Durabak issue and seeing yours prior to these pictures...I was considering going your route...not so much anymore...I think I will stick to my problem.

Things like this Little Guy is giving ALL teardrops a bad name. Some one that might be on the fringe of teardrop hood will hear about this and get scared away from all teardrops. Then they will tell a friend, who tells a friend.

This hurts the the whole sport, not just Sandman. :x

Sandman, This situation sucks! Little Guy will lose business no matter how this comes out. My 2 cents: If the dealer is willing to drive a 2006 model to your home, I would say take it, but look it over closely for any signs of leaks and rot when it arrives. Tell them you plan to look it over, and tell them to bring their checkbook in case you find any! If you find any rot, demand a full refund! Good luck.

You know... after seeing those pictures, It just reinforces my first impression I got a while back. If you are going to use cheaper materials that have a history of not holding up to the least bit of moisture; you would think they would be extra careful with the sealing process? :o

It kinda reminds me of the kitchen cabinets some of the big-box stores sell... They look good, but many corners are cut to hit a price point. In my case, I'm glad they do it... Makes my selling custom cabinets made with all cabinet grade plywoods & hardwood that much easier. ;)

wow, sandman... this sucks.

anything less than a brand new '08 model, with all the bells and whistles... an absolute top of the line and even custom over-the-top model that little guy makes to "right this wrong"... is all that's acceptable.

the only way for little guy to recover from this is for them to step up and spend 7 to 8 thousand dollars hell, even 10 grand, and build you an absolute dream tear to make this right.... matching graphics, the whole 9 yards for you!!! you deserve it, and from the perspective that little guy could write the entire thing off as a promotional item... the only way they lose is if they don't go over the top in fixing this for you!

so little guy if you're listening: PIMP THIS GUY'S TEARDROP! HE DESERVES IT! if they do right by you, by going over the top with their fix, i for one will sing their praises, and steer people in their direction.

i'm not saying everyone that's had a problem should get a super duper replacement trailer, but yours was brand new off the lot!!!! i really hope they fix this for you in the BIGGEST of ways. if they do right by you, they'll get a lot of positive "advertising" out of it... way more than the trailer cost them to build. if they don't fix it in a super way, it will definately hit them in the pocketbook. maybe they'll be able to turn this Public Relations nightmare into a positive thing, and be able to sell more trailers because of they way they handle you?

best of luck to you my friend, hang in there!
