Progress

Postby dploch » Thu Dec 13, 2007 11:48 am

We sqaured up the side walls, installed some spars, Completed the rear wall framing, and cut out the windows and hatch. We will start framing in the front slide out opening and then install the ceiling. All of the joints we are doing are dadoed lap joints. It is amazing how strong everything gets once you start tying it all together. Here are some pics of the Progress

To follow up on my earlier statement....The treated wood of today is not the same as the Arsenic treated wood of the past. This wood is ACQ treated and not a danger to be used indoors. For this reason I am using it for the sill on my floor and for parts of my frame. I will be using untreated wood on my walls, floors, cabinets, etc.

I know paint won't stick to green wood, does glue still stick okay?

You are going to post some pic of your trailer behind the police car… Unlike others that just get the police car behind their trailer.

I have already bought CPES and plan on painting it with Interlux Brightside White. I am unsure if I should prime it with Interlux Prekote before I paint it. Anybody have an opinion on that.

As far as the Police car.....right before I pushed the button to post the pictures I saw the Police car in the picture and thought ummh that oughta get a couple of responses. I guess my cover is blown.

Are you Serpico??

Postby RandyRogers » Thu Dec 20, 2007 2:39 pm

I am wondering if you are Serpico??? Police car in the background, you obviously are dressed for 'undercover' work cuz normal people dont dress and look that. I see you are by the water, might also be time for a bath.... BTW, trailer looks nice, keep posting updated photos

The one thing that was at first a concern with me was where to put the axle but since I drive a large truck it was not as big of an issue. I have had to alter my design and place the door behind the axle which places the axle at 5 feet four inches from the rear.

...that is a lot...it would probably be OK as long as your toy was on the front but may become very squirelly if towed without it...I think I would try to put the axle about a foot back from that point...with a heavy truck, you can stand the heavy tongue weight but too light on the tongue is a no-no........

Progress & Merry Christmas

Postby dploch » Sun Dec 23, 2007 8:28 pm

Well me and my dad have done more work on the trailer. Here are the latest pics.

I can't begin to count how many times we have climbed a ladder or crawled onto the trailer back and forth to get a saw, tool, etc. It seem like whatever you need is never close. We will take off a couple of days and celebrate Christmas. Hope you and yours have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year.
