Too funny about sleeping under the covers as that is exactly what she does!

:) Yep, she's a cutie too. Note the small light colored spot on their right front legs. :o

There's a creative brainstorming thread going for all of the possibilities with having 4 side out receiver hitches right here. But this idea obviously speaks directly to this threads original question. Thoughts?

AT YOUR CAMPSITE, YOU REMOVE IT FROM THE REAR HITCH AND SLIDE IT FLUSH RIGHT INTO YOUR SIDE-HITCH, CENTERED UNDER THE DOOR. (No need for those leveling jacks anymore or storing this in the back of your tow vehicle.)

I've always loved this PetPod and it would really be sharp mounted on the back in transit too. Just finish the enclosure off with a same shape front panel that will slide up and out through slot brackets and tension clamps, etc (easy). Have the removable panel face the back of the tear when mounted to the rear hitch. Stick a license plate holder on the back of the PetPod and this person has a very custom look while on the road too with their own cargo carrier. At the campsite just remove the PetPod, slide the removable front panel up and out, and slide the PetPod onto your door hitch. (I'd mount a handle somewhere on on the PetPod too.)

Now everyone has a way to accommodate their dog no matter what size their tear (or dog) and have extra storage to boot.

You've just experienced another "side-hitch moment".
Thoughts?

My boy Walter on his first camping trip. He loved it, especially when we woke up to about twenty turkeys walking through our campsite. He's fifteen and blind now. He has a girl friend next door that he runs the fence with. She's his reason for living.

Oasismaker: I like the pet pod idea. Too bad that we just got a side tent from CampInn. Ah, well. Maybe for the next one.

Before we got the side tent, we used a travel crate set up just outside the TD. Of course, during thunderstorms or fireworks, the dog was in the TD with us - 'cause otherwise she'd have ended up in the woods and we wouldn't have found her until sometime the next day - if then.

Just to let you know. If you hook up a line to the frame of the TD and your dog likes to cruise the campsite in the middle of the night, you will hear every creak of the line also (if its metal on metal). The frame will transmit the noise right to you in bed. This is NOT necessarily a bad thing, either.

Here's Caitie. All 60 lbs of her. Its a good thing that she doesn't like to be picked up either!

Oasis Maker - That Pet Pod rocks. Good work. I love the idea & it looks like it's part of the trailer.

I really like the petpod too, although my young pup 'TJ' all <10lbs of him really doesn't need his own room.

This pic would be better if I had my camera with me... but I only had my cell phone. I was building cabinets in my teardrop today and my German Shepherd was "helping". Then my dad came over with his Shepherd (my dog's brother). So that's a 75lb and an 85lb dog in there!

My new wife came with the nicest dog I ever met. He's a Whippet, black, named Rocky.
He's amazingly well trained.
He's only too happy to go with us no matter where we go.
When we're camping he sleeps in the back seat of the car on his fleece.
