Hatches and hinges - Show me yours please.

Happy to report that the weekend at Santa Pod Raceway was a great success.

We had a good half hour of rain tipping it down, and no rain into the vitals.

Hinge seems to have done its job.

We had a bit of rain at the Coventry do to .... I'm pleased to say the added protection kept the rain out. No annoying drip.

Thanks for the length of "pool liner" you sent me to add to my hinge.
When it came to fitting it, Nicola challenged me to see if it would work without it.... keeping the lines neat.
I gave in, but wait in suspense for the day I have to show her water inside the galley and to say "told you so"

What is the size of your hinge? I assume it's a piano hinge screwed to the hatch and the roof and then this pool liner goes over the top of the hinge and is secured with the aluminum strips? Does it seal good?

I'm curious as to cost of this route versus the hurricane hinge and which would be most waterproof. Mine hinge needs to be 6' long. Anyone have any other suggestions, like using only 2-4 hinges versus the piano hinge? Thanks for the thoughts.

Pete, huricane hinge is costly.

Pool liner is cheap, but can look a bit tatty.

Ultimately it is personal taste, I decided that ri of a bit of wet, versus potential untidy lloking hinge would have me not go the pool liner route..... I had a lot of hard rain while on honeymoon, and the seal is about 98% good, nt time I will park ona slight inclin to have sideways drainage eured.

I just got some epdm material from Jim in California and plan to do a hatch leak repair like yours. Can you tell me how wide the epdm material is (top to bottom) that is used on your hatch? I got the 8" epdm but it looks too wide as compaired to yours in the photos.

And since I had to get 50 feet of it, I used it for the doors, too.They aren't finished and they look like they got a sunburn and are peeling, I haven't pulled all the plastic off the aluminum yet... next week!
