Great looking dog,
Both of mine have been sleeping in the grate or pen since they were pups. They know it is their safe place and on occasion they sleep in there on their own. In the evening, all we have to say is go to bed, and of they go into the pen and lay down for the night. It also helps keep the peace between the dogs and cats. And given the chance, Nattie would look high and low all over the house to see if she could find and old bread crumb, chocolate or whatever left over that is within here reach.

What a little cutie! I'm sure with time she will develop some good "Camping Manners".

What a beauty Jeremy! When we lived in Nevada I had a border collie try and adopt me until her owner hunted her down and made her go home. She kept coming back! After a week of her running away from home and to my door, the owner had to put a shock collar on her. She was a sweetie. Very smart dogs!

So far so good with Lele. She went to the vet today for shots and got clean bill of health. She is bonding with the family fast. She will walk with me off leash and stay right with me. She is loving playing with the kids and the kids are loving playing with her. My 16 year old daughter has got up early both days this week to take her to the dog park yesterday and on morning walks today. My son has taken here out every day to play soccer, even in the rain.

Always had a dog when I was growing up too (in lieu of brothers or sisters) and my parents had a kennel raising "Scotties" when I was very young.
After leaving home and getting married we had a dog.......lasted until we had real kids, then gave it away.
Love dogs! but unfortunately lifestyles change.

Jeremy, congrats on your new camping companion-----I've also got a blue merle purebred Border Collie, 5 years old by the name of Belle. Don't know if she's got "the eye" for livestock, but she sure does for a ball or Frisbee! We acquired her as an itsy bitsy puppy, from one of my coworkers (we were only going "to just take a look" at the puppies, yeah right, so much for that!) and it was love at first sight. Watson, a 4 year old border collie mix, was a humane society refugee---we saw him on the local TV station "pet profiles" segment. He was a squirming, camera shy 10 month old youngster.

They're both crate trained, obedience trained and always go camping with us. We usually tether them only when we're setting up, or taking down camp, or if we have next door camping neighbors. Otherwise, we monitor Belle and Watson to make sure they don't go beyond our site's perimeter,----- they behave a lot better than some of our past campsite neighbor's children! As for barking, whether at camp (or at home), a stern "No barks" quiets them. They sleep in the tent with us. They're a total joy---and yes, their exercise requirements keep us on our toes!

We'll be taking ownership of our new teardrop sometime this early Spring. Belle and Watson will be sleeping inside, at the foot of the bed. A photo of my two:

The dog has been a good motivation for my 13 year old son. He spent all day yesterday cleaning his room so Lele could sleep in his room last night. She did great. They went to bed around 9:00 and got up around 7:30.
