The 55 looks more "elegant/classic" and would be my choice but it would depend somewhat on the final color of the camper for me. Chrome accents look better on some colors more than others.

Well as it stands right now, it looks like I'm going to go with the 55's (no blue dots, they weren't in in the 70's & 80'. Even though DMV registered it as a '71, it's really an '81 (that's another story for around the camp fire). Now to get back to the tail lights. I won't know for sure until I can put them up against the trailer (it's still in paint, damn hotrod shop). Hopefully it'll be out next week at the latest. It would be nice if it was out this week so I can go down and take some measurements this coming weekend.

I think the choice varies depending on the background.
With a polished trailer, the 56 lights look better, with a painted trailer, the 55's might look better.

I do this too. I even got an app for my phone so I won't have to look for a quarter.

Well it looks like I'm going to go with the 56's. The boss likes the 56's over the 55's. Rule #1 is always keep the boss happy. Won't have LED's (can't find LED adapters or anything I like). But will have Halogen bulbs which are pretty bright.

shucks, Gage I vote '55 with the blue dots, if the police stops you just tell them it came with it and they will have to talk with the manufacturer. but if the Missus says '56 then OH well.
