Thanks :)

yes, I know they were designed to be unsinkable (the original mouse anyway) the micromouse proved it was when four kids were in it and my brother-in-law pulled himself up on the bow almost out of the water, and then jumped off swamping the boat. It still floated and the kids just hopped over the sides, held on and bailed it out, then hopped back in.
the squaremice (design the boys have) has decks but no bulkheads to seal off the space under them, I added that and I believe the pictures you are talking about was my swamping tests. My weight is an overload for any of the smaller mice, (the romana is mine and is rated for adults, the rest are for kids or light adults) 170 lbs being about 20 more than their max recommended weight. I found the squaremouse and the micromouse could both keep me afloat full of water, and even would keep me upright if I was seated.
On our "whitewater" mousing trip we each had some water sloshing around inside from water that splashed in/paddle drips, but nothing to be concerned about. the only time I ever swamped the micromouse not on purpose was the time I took it surfing in the ocean, I just couldn't make it out through the waves without getting swamped.

I got a call yesterday from the people who made that boat (venture outdoors) and a new seat is being shipped to me free of charge.

Rowerwet:

Do not mean to hijack the original topic.
Really like the idea of the mouseboats. Considered building the Flats Rat version modified for sailing. Built a Puddle Duck Racer instead. Some of my building photos over on the Foamies build section.

Like the job you did on the boats and the weight is about perfect for loading and unloading on your teardrop.

My boat weighs about 90 lbs. I removed my galley and transport the boat inside the TD.

speaking of boats, i've had my eye on building that "Vacationer" (check on google) sailboat and set it up so I can swap parts from my Ogre rv into the Vacationer, ie heater, composting toilet, camp chef oven etc

I dream about a fleet of PDR's for the kids and I to bash about on a local pond, it may happen... the PDR is an off shoot of the mouse anyway, I read your thread on building the PDR, can't wait for your article on DW
for me the mouse is the perfect size, even if I end up with a fleet of 5 (one for each kid, including me) they are small and light enough to stack on my cargo rack and the van roof with no trailer needed.

A week later and I finally got the seat. The bottom part of the seat. It's a done deal now.

Hopefully spring-ish time or maybe sooner if the weather cooperates.

Here's a different take on a sort-of collapsable boat:

If you have a house - you have a hobby.
