Well, we did not have winter storm yesterday. Just a day long wind storm. One airfield got 67mph another got 63mph. and I swear I had a few minutes at my house where it was above that.

“In my years in law enforcement in the area, I’ve definitely seen the wind blow this hard, but never seen it blow this hard for such a long period of time,” said Jerome County Sheriff Doug McFall.

Times News.

There where a lot of semis blown over. not to mention the ones that blew over on the two bridges going over the canyon to Twin Falls. I bet those drivers have a cleanup job and a half.

Some highways where closed.

I just talked to my Mail Carrier and she said she has seen a lot of trees blown over. Guy I work for was on the highway yesterday and saw a bunch of traffic signs down.

I have not seen any real damage to my place yet but have not looked to close to everything.

I am glad I was not pulling my trailer with my little TV. Do not like looking out the mirrors and seeing a foot more of the trailer on one side than the other. Or heading into the wind and with gas all the way down doing about 35mph. :frightened: :frightened: Randy

I just found this

Local TV News video

The Hanson bridge they talk about is one I cross a lot. About ten years ago a semi got hit with a side burst of wind just before he got to the bridge and blew him off the road and he went into the canyon. It is about 400-500 feet deep there. The DOT put more side rails up after that. Those bridges are fun to drive in a wind. I have crab steered my VW van over them a few times. Felt more like flying an air plane than driving a vehicle.

We have been windy here but not like that. Sunday we have 45-50 mph gusts.. that made cycling a little difficult.. I do recall a bridge crossing in NM years ago. I was also on a VW bus.. fortunetely they used wind socks to alter you. There wasn't much traffic and I went to the passing lane.. and was still blown pretty close to the right hand guardrail.

We are still fairly wintery here.. we still have temps dropping to zero at night. We just had a good snowstorm.. and another is forecast for this weekend.

Bad, slow, bad.

:D :D

I have seen 100+ here a few times. And not just a gusts.

I would like to build a foamy but time and funds. Mostly when I have time. I do not have funds. You know the story.

Even many of our winter die hards… are ready for spring.

I could take it anytime.. but since it isn't here.. we are making the best of it and enjoying what we have. :D

We started spreading manure tuesday. Have gotten about 200 loads out. But with only 3 -4 trucks running out of 7 we are going kind of slow.

this winter was a bust for me, plenty of snow, after january was over, with each snow fall ruined by rain a few days later... then frozen solid the next day. I still have sore joints from the last time I tried to ski on the ice that looked like snow.
most of the yard is mud now, and I'm already back to splitting wood for next winter, this winter failed and needs to sneak away quietly.

Is this Minister of Finance an appointed or elected position?  ;)

I am fortunate that my Minister of Finance is as into biking as I… although that means it costs us even more. I don't know about on craigs list, but they are around used. I know of a few that have sold in this area $900-$1000 range.

Well we are getting 12-15" of snow with 50 MPH winds. All Highways are closed. I never heard of this but there is also lightning in some parts. I can't see 10' past our front porch. Think I will go back to bed. Lots of tractoring tomorrow. (Snowblowing) Mother Natures April Fools on us.

Wow, back in 1952, I took a lot of flack from friends and relatives about re-locating to Sunny So Calif. with my sweet 18 year old bride. After reading the previous posts, I am pleased that we made the right choice. The packed freeways, rare earthquakes and stories of smog and high crime in the big cities, never were a problem for us. I still love traveling to the many other 48 states that I have visited, but I head back home when the cold weather sets in. Growing up, I enjoyed the sledding, ice skating and hugging the sweet teen-age girls to keep them warm, when winter came, but working in the construction trades outside, was a different matter. Snow and ice on lumber, wet gloves, freezing temps and missed work days, soon took their toll, so it was goodby No Illinois and hello So Calif.

I admire all of those who continue to live where they were raised, in the sometimes, harsh weather, and I miss the openess of the bright blue skies, the cornfields, gravel roads, water-sports in the many lakes and friendly folks that live right next door to your homes. (I don't even know my neighbor's names) However, even though I can snow ski, surf in ocean, hike in the mountains and deserts, visit Disney Land and Hollywood, in the same day, now that I am an ocotgenarian, life is good. I look forward to the many local teardrop gatherings that I am able to attend, and will do so as long as I can. Yes. your winter will end, the fresh Spring, enjoyable Summer and colorful Fall will soon be upon you, and I envy you. Therefore, I go teardropping whenever I can, hopefully for a long time to come. I really think that being active and enjoying life to it's fullest, keeps me healthy and happy........Enjoy life, no matter what.

8) ;) :wine: Roly, long live those who live where they choose and continue to camp with friends, everywhere.
