General Discussion about almost anything Teardrop or camping related

Postby Al-Les-Palace » Wed Apr 27, 2005 9:21 pm

While patiently killing time last year after ordering our CampInn, we tried to think of a clever name.

We finally came up with "The Al-Les Palace" from our names (Alan and Leslie), and the fact that this small trailer will be as close as we will ever come to owning a palace. (but we plan to camp in many beautiful places)

The galley is, of course, "Al-Les's Restaurant". (Anyone not alive and aware during the 60's can ignore this remark!)

We still have to order some decals to put on the tear.

Arlo was just in concert here in St Louis... and if you remember much of the 60's, you weren't really there...

Coca Cola Teardrop.
We had just purchased a red truck when we started our first teardrop. Charles called a friend at the trailer plant (Lufkin Trailers) to purchase leftover sheets (discount price) for our teardrop. The friend said he hated to say it but all they had was red because they had just finished some Coca Cola Trailers. Charles said that was perfect to match our truck. I then decided to go with the Coca Cola Theme and as you will see (If I ever get pics up) that we also have Coca Cola Decals on the sides.
We are now starting teardrop #2 which is black. Guess I'll stay with Coca Cola Teardrop user name.

We'd just returned from a whirlwind tour of the US. Our big road trip. You see, I used to own a hemp shop and I finally found someone to take the rest of my inventory off my hands and so we piled everything int he truck and headed to Arkansas,

And so roadtrippin was born. Real name is Ryan Blackhawke. Not my given name, but is my chosen name. I usually used hawke2 on various forums but this site seemed perfect for my new travel theme.

Just out of curiosity....what is a hemp shop? I grew up in the 60's so it's probably something different than what I'm thinking.

We sold clothing, fabric, twine, some food...NOTHING we sold would aid you in getting high. We are talking of the industrial hemp variety...the type that scares the bejeezus out of the cotton and petrochem industries. We have a tiny bit of hemp silk left which I think we will use for the teardrop.

Since Lee and LeeB were already taken I picked Road Trip for a name - it's my favorite outdoor sport.

Mine is pretty darned boring, it's just my first name and last initial (for Herndon). I couldn't think of anything more exciting. On the geocaching.com site, my partner and I go by "Team NWTear", since I eventually plan to put "NWTEAR" on our license plate for the teardrop (I hope noone steals that idea). We are even going to go with a NW theme for the tear, using fabric with ferns, etc..., for the sheets and curtains.
