TD Manufacture Suggestion: 4 Receiver Tubes? Here's Why...

General Discussion about almost anything Teardrop or camping related

Man what a great idea. That is great I think they may just add them to campers at no cost just to sell all the attachments that could be added on and sold as options. This was the most innovative idea for a camper, be it a teardrop a TTT or any camper. Just the attachments that could be sold and uses that can be thought of is endless. Hey one thing we may have a way now to keep our ezups from flying away also.

now that is a idea. I have a rear door Scotty with a hitch out the back so I can pull my john boat. So I could hook the motor to the rear hitch and have a boat and not have to pull my john boat.

This is a great thread! I thought I would post here to pull it back up to the top for folks to see who are new here like me. Someone had asked about a dog area on their teardop; I think on page three there is a 'pup pod' that attaches to the teardrop via a receiver hitch. Brilliant!

I have a silly question. How much should one expect to pay to have four receivers mounted onto their frame? Or, if it's easier, how much per receiver?

I saw something like this on the Vacations in a Can web page. They used the same basic idea to mount side tables, etc.

I like the idea of using them to help mount various bike racks, etc. that will swing out of the way when you need them too!

We also thought that the four receivers was a terrific idea and had a friend weld them underneath our trailer. I also designed three different types of tables and he made them up in stainless steel so that I could put my dutch ovens and other hot stuff on them without worry. The best one is Rob's barbecue table which swings out, swivels and slides to adjust for campsite terrain.

Any thoughts on a reasonable cost for welding these onto a frame? Sorry for the somewhat ignorant question, but can they be welded on after the teardrop is built?

Sorry to keep asking, but the thread is so good that others are enjoying it, but forgetting my question. What's a reasonable cost to pay for welding 4 receiver hitches onto a frame? Should this be done before building the floor? I guess what I mean is can it be done afterward too?

even though the build I'd like to do is a bit bigger then a teardrop I'd like to put in some extra hitches

My front receiver's are built into my chassis and hidden by outdoor electrical plug covers.
The other side of the electrical box was welded to the receiver during construction and is wired a plug so that I also have an outside electrical outlet handy to my accessory receiver.
We use ours for our outside light. But |I have often though it would be great for a crock pot, coffee pot, popcorn popper, margarita blender, TV, ice maker, fan, laptop adapter, toaster, hair dryer,.........or just about anything that would make camping in the great out doors seem like you are in the comfort of your own home. :)
