I've been following this thread for a while and can't believe some of the replies. Good grief, please keep it humane.

Why not use a bow? Very quiet and quite effective! If you don't have one there must be a deer hunter around that would be more than happy to help you and get a fox.

This is just about the handiest lil gun you can have. And being a "long gun", is easier to own and transport all broken down.

This has taken a life of it's own.
We do have a chicken tractor and use it. My wife let the girls out to clean their coop and went inside to refresh the water, the Fox struck.
the same Fox went at a friends chickens and the other day the same friend
called and said there was a different Fox Looking in their sliding glass door at them didn't run off till they came at it with a stick the Fox then scaled their 6 ft fence like it was nothing.
My feeling is there is probably people thinking it's cute aww let's feed the cuddle Fox, and or leaving dog food out for wildlife to feed on These fox are becoming desensitized to Humans and now the Foxes yes plural have the run of the place Time to make a stand. Game and fish are worthless they have bigger fish to fry the police just said don't discharge my .22in city limits and some smart ass listening in the background chimed in and said get a bigger Dog!!
A lot of help they are, as far as poisoning the fox No go too many pets near by they aren't the problem.
I purchased a .22 Air Rifle Gamo Big Cat It's what I can purchase at the moment, and I will practice and go for the head shot. I know the Fox will be back
and in case ya'll are wondering Yes it did cross my mind using the chicken it killed as bait but, that was the only comfort my wife had, The Fox didn't get to eat her.

I don't wanna sound hell bent on killing something, Ideally The Fox wouldn't come back, but not practical.

Hopefully the fox(es) will get scared off in the event that you don't the head-shot. We have bunches of them in my neighborhood. When it snowed a couple weeks ago, you can see their tracks all over the place. Too big to be a cat, it looked like it had to bound over the deep snow.
