'Fake' fire ;-)

General Discussion about almost anything Teardrop or camping related

Slow..sometimes I just don't know what to say to you....

But I know one thing...if you stay on your farm, you will never find a real one! When the weather permits get out and go somewhere! And I don't meant ice fishing...doubt you'll find too many girls hanging out on the lake waiting for you to roll by!

Maybe you need to get a job at the Walmart so you can scope out the potential candidates..just watch out for the 'people of Walmart' types and you'll do fine!

I agree. It is an alternative campfire choice. I think it's a good one. But when posted as a 'fake fire' it was just to much of an invitation to poke fun...I don't think anyone is really knocking the idea. Just saying they like the real wood campfire and that would be the #1 choice.

I like the propane one..just wish the tank didn't look so horrible. I like scorching my shoes on the edge of one of those. Kinda reminds me of growing up in old houses where there was only a single floor furnace for heat. We used to dry our sneakers on the grate overnight after a rain..pilot light worked great. Only problem was when someone left the key in and it got kicked. Yep, the sneakers melted into the grate and the house filled with burning rubber smell....good times!!!

When we were young my brother dumped his unwanted dinner down the floor furnace.

I try to avoid Walmart, just makes me feel better. But sometimes that is all there is. Years ago I knew some people that ran a little TV sales and repair business. They would point out that often the TVs Walmart was selling was last years models. I have also read that Levis would make the Walmart Levis from a slightly lighter weight cloth than other stores get. This I was not able to confirm and I never bought any Levis at Walmart.

I hate walmart like a sickness. I only go there if others make me go there.

Walmart IS a sickness!!

It's down the street from me so I get my mantles and Coleman fuel there. Most of their stuff is cheap, cheesy low quality stuff..you get what you pay for.

Food is cheaper at Winco and the variety is better. If you are on the obesity 'diet' shop at Walmart..you'll find all the snack stuff you can handle!

I do get garden soil there sometimes...if I don't feel like going to Home Depot.

Other than that, I think Walmart really is wiping out the Mom and Pop stores. Even the smaller chains.

I've just heard Slow talk about making the trip to Walmart to find stuff and thought it could be a possibility..but more of a joke. He can do better than that. But most everyone goes to a Walmart at some point. The one by me is not the usual one...it's clean, things are in stock, no 'check cashing line'...but Slow needs to get out there to find the real girlfriend..she's not going to appear on his farm, and may not be at a farm machinery auction.

Think outside the box, Slow!! She's out there somewhere!!

Randy...I have found some stuff like your Levis story...some brands have a cut rate level made for Walmart...can't think of any right now, but I've seen it. You pick up the item and go "________ made THIS??? Their stuff is quality...this is crap!" I think it might be the made in China line from certain labels. Cheaper materials, same pattern (work boots NOT made of leather but with Vibram soles..)

It's like Harbor Freight tools..they are cheap and cheesy, but if it's something you don't use often, it will get you by for a bit.

Coleman at Walmart is the real deal, though. Not sure about sleeping bags, but everything else is real Coleman quality.

I don't think Walmart is a good place to "shop" for women.
Seems the one near me is full of "Bottom Feeders."
Been married/divorced and have two adult children. I can afford to be picky.

If it's the only store in town, out in the boonies, it might be! In some small towns it's the only store in town anymore, since all the mom and pop places have shut down.

Most Walmarts here, except the one down the street, are full of people you don't want to be around. Ours is actually a nice Walmart for a city one. E
'Everyone' shops there (except Kirk)

If Slow can't figure out good from bad, then there is a big problemo, but since he's still single, I'm thinking he hasn't seen good yet..at least not one who wants to be a rancher's girl (maybe he needs to spend some time out here near Kirk..I think there might be some rancher girl types over in that area..)

Kirk..can Slow come out to stay for a spell???

Hmmmmmm! I resemble that remark! I do most of my shopping at Walmart. Get in, get er done and get out.

As far as meeting women goes, me being one, Seems like when ever I check out lures in the fishing department I get hit on by guys. If I wasn't married I might be interested. Depending on your interests you might want to check out the women in different store areas.

If you like camping and fishing, check out the gals in those departments. Computers, hang out there.

Personaly, I think you should avoid any gal who is checking out the Lee Press on Nails or 40 oz. malt liquor in a bottle. :R

That's what I was just thinking!!

But see..if there is an 'outdoor' store...fishing, etc, nearby that wasn't an all guys place, it would be good. Gotta find someone who fits. The comment about the nails and malt liquor..spot on.

Slow knows the difference, or he would be married, divorced, a passel of kids...you see that in W-mart all the time. But you do find quality buying stuff there too.

Or he could take a class at a community college! That's a sure bet, if there is one nearby.

Or...he can hang out by where those firepits are sold and chat up any girl that seems like a candidate...he sure can sell fake fires!

Ya tell me about it. but then I couldn't find them at the University or community college. Well, when I spent most my time at the University was during the Viet Nam war and there was 7 guys for every gal. A person like me did not stand a chance. ( thats my excuse and i am sticking with it )
